Oh, I mean I hate people

“You have to earn it or give something back? Those two are immensely different as well. Like you said, I’ve got nothing to offer you that would suffice your wishes.” Nor would I want to. Gail normally could get people to do what she wanted to a certain extend, this time it wouldn’t work and so she made no effort at all. “I might’ve offered you a drink but I feel like I’ve seen enough of you for a lifetime once we get out of here.”

”And you’re not exactly a ray of sunshine, but of course, I am still telling you things you already know.”

“Are you really serious about always wanting something in return? And then people say they lost faith in humanity because of me. Yes, and like I said it doesn’t really bother me. Especially not coming from a person like yourself.” Not when a stranger told her that. She knew who she was, what she was like. No need for a complete stranger to comment on her behaviour when he only did things if he got something in return. She wasn’t sure which behaviour was worse but neither were good. 

”Oh, sorry…was I being an ass again?”

“Honestly, you didn’t stop being one. How do you expect someone to give you something when you don’t tell them what it is you want? Doesn’t seem like your business is doing very well if you act like that,” Gail mentioned before a deep sigh left her lips. “Just kill me now.” Gail closed her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose. This guy was so much worse than Dov. She had thought that perhaps they’d be able to lighten the mood by having a regular conversation but she’d been wrong. 

”Oh, my prices are client depending. I doubt you could afford me.” 

“Like I said earlier, tell me something I don’t know,” Gail rolled her eyes. Raising an eyebrow when he told her he doubted she could afford him, she put her phone back in her pocket. “Hurts no one to tell, does it? I guess we’re back to ignoring each other then.” Gail was irritated, the guy was a pain in the ass and she had to spend her time in an elevator with him. Should’ve held the doors open for Chloe, I guess karma is a bitch. 

“When you start to boast, you’re pretty much an ass,” Gail noted. That was how being social worked. As soon as you spoke up about what you were good at, you became an ass. “Like I haven’t heard that before. You’re bringing such old news to me,” Gail shrugged, she couldn’t care less about what this guy thought about her. She got curious by the way he formed his last sentence. “Okay, I’ll bite. What would you want?”

“Oh you’re such a smart ass? Well, then clear the level for me.” She hadn’t wanted him to boast about his ‘Candy Crush skills’, but if he did she might as well have him clear the level for her. Gail huffed at his question before taking her phone from her pocket and opening the game. “Don’t flatter yourself that much. I was questioning your social life. Doesn’t seem like you have much of it if you’re at level 1180.” Gail shrugged, it was better to have a conversation with the guy than be annoyed by his disability to deal with social situations, as in knowing when to turn off the volume of your phone. It did cross her mind that it was all just on purpose to annoy her. It had worked.

”You play?”

1180? This guy must be playing non-stop, because she was when she wasn’t at work. “649. Been stuck for a week. Stupid game,” Gail sighed, she just couldn’t get it done. She was good at video games, but this level was annoying her so much to the point where she threw away her phone multiple times. “How much do you even play? I mean it’s crazy that I’m at level 649 if I say so myself. I assume you don’t have a partner.”

Her hand moved to her forehead and a deep sigh left her lips when he started playing a game on his phone, with the volume quite high. She pinched the bridge of her nose before glaring it at him. Was he even aware of the fact that he was pissing her off? Then she recognized the sounds. “Which level are you?” How much do you suck at this game? Sure she was annoyed by the loud noise but she did like the game. She still looked indifferent, she didn’t ask because she was curious, it was only to keep her from getting too annoyed by the guy in the elevator.

“I realise the morgue isn’t for everyone, so I’ll   do my best to make this brief.”

      “Yea I don’t like spending my time around dead bodies,         they smell really weird too. What do you got?”

“I can definitely feel the unfriendly vibe. Where do you want me to meet you?”

       “Nothing new to me.” Gail just shrugged, she didn’t necessarily         need him to like her. He just needed to keep all the annoying         co-workers away from her. “Here at the station at around 7.”

“Oh, hey. It’s just me, Gail. I’m a nice, single, homosexual police officer”
