My dad played and coached for NAU and they made it to March Madness one year and so of course my dad is a fan but he made my sister and I bigger fans. I can’t remember a year I haven’t done a march madness bracket. When I was younger and didn’t get the concept I’d still do it. My dad would say the red team or the purple team, then it went to the bulldogs or the tigers just so it stayed exciting to me no matter the age.

For the players, it’s basically their time to shine. You see those moments where a sophomore who barely got any minutes all season suddenly hits a game-winning three, and it’s insane. The tournament gives them a platform to show off their skills, fight for their school’s pride, and create memories they and we will never forget.

In today’s era of the transfer portal where leaving is easier and more common than ever it would have been understandable to see players move on after a coaching change. Instead, every player chose to stay. To me, this shows just how unique Nebraska volleyball really is. The tradition, the community, and the trust between players and coaches run so deep that it creates a culture you don’t find everywhere else. I truly believe if this situation happened at most other programs, you’d see transfers right away.That’s what makes this season so exciting. The players’ loyalty and belief in Busboom Kelly prove that Nebraska volleyball is built on more than just wins it’s built on history, trust, and family. I can’t wait to watch them this fall and see what they accomplish under their new leader.
