ever since his return to oldtown at ten-and-four, morgan towers a head over his friend from childhood, although even when they were boys that never stopped gwayne from challenging him. whether venturous or reckless, wherever gwayne would go, morgan would usually follow.

the king has as many worries as the realm has mouths, and his own on top of that, but his daughters never hesitate to offload another one onto him. the elder two have grown into girls as beautiful as they are willful, and though viserys does not have it in his heart to clip their wings, his words of concern seem to fall on deaf ears every time.
though his mind and wit remain as sharp as when he was crowned, he can feel the ache in his lower back after a day of sitting, see the way his skin begins to crease and sag as age catches up to him. even if he were not bound to the throne by duty, he could not run after his girls to keep them tethered to the ground, safely by his side. all he has is words, and words, to his daughters, are wind.

maelor is old enough to sleep in his own bed, which is to say he is old enough to sleep without crying. he remains disoriented for the first moment upon waking; his father's face so close by his bedside illuminated only by the lantern in his hand seems to maelor as if from a different memory. he rubs the sleep from his eyes just to find them wet. quickly, to hide his embarrassment, he wipes his hands on the blanket.
“ i am sorry, father, i don't know- ” as maelor readies the excuse, it all returns to him at once. it was a dream that has left his heart heavy. he knows he has no control over his sleeping mind, still, maelor looks away in shame. he is not a little child anymore to cry for his mother after waking from a nightmare.

HOUSE 𝕽EDWYNE is a proud house of merchants and owners of the greatest vineyards in all of the seven kingdoms. the arbor red is renowned for centuries, and the enormous 𝖗edwyne fleet exports it across the world in exchange for riches and rarities from other cities. though the fruits of their island are sweet, they are a family of admirals and seafarers, defending the merchant fleets and carving paths across piratestricken waters. MORGAN 𝕽EDWYNE becomes lord of the arbor towards the end of king 𝖛iserys I's reign in 125 ac, aged 34. he outlives not only his father, the late lord 𝖗edwyne, but two elder brothers. his lady, denyse 𝖍ightower, has given him two children, a son and a daughter. in the coming years, when the war of succession of the throne breaks out, he raises his banners in support of king 𝖆egon II due to his close family ties with house 𝖍ightower, and the arbor's fleets remain in the crown's service ( although more reluctantly ) beyond 𝖆egon's death.

( she is but a girl, and the politics of the small council chamber are still beyond her. who can blame her? a slight meant for her father embarrasses her all the same. )
daemon is a warrior, of course, and leagues ahead of her brother in experience. when was it that gwayne was made a knight? it cannot have been more than a few years ago, and all he's been doing since is ride in tourneys. daemon rides his dragon into real wars, that's all alicent knows.
ik jon has no reason whatsoever to make his own coat of arms but if he DID then the bastard custom of inverting your father's house colors would go hard because there is literally a white wolf on a grey field like. with him irl
