independent & private princess elia nymeros martell from george r.r martin's a song of ice and fire series. loved by kore ( she / they, 21+ ) set in the world of the books and based entirely upon my own headcanons supported by the little we know of her character. due to the nature of elia's story there will be heavy triggers present ( + tagged ) upon this blog, including but not limited to violence, misogyny, racism, child death, rape, and mentions of chronic illness. if any mutuals of mine have any triggers that they have that are not listened in their rules, i only ask that they dm me and i will tag them from that point on. i am also found on @realmsdelite and @aprincesstoo

a study in: the deconstruction of the fantasy princess, deconstruction of the unwanted wife trope, kindness not being a definition of weakness, the exploration of the rose without a thorn, a journey in motherhood, the princess that readies to become queen consort of an increasingly volatile court,
rules and portrayal information below the cut ( tw: chronic illness, and child death )
my activity level will vary. i am both neurodivergent, and this is not my only blog. though it is my intention as of 2026 to get my blogs running a majority of the time on a queue so there won't be a period where there is not fresh writing on my account, ooc posting levels will vary. there will also be days where i am writing and posting things that day on my account, but the predominantly being ran by a queue decision was made so that i do not feel the added pressure of not having posted recently as an impediment for my creativity. i will however always attempt to reach out, whether it be via meme, or an im.
shipping is very much not a priority of mine, though i am open to it - it will need to exist in an alternate universe, because she is married in her main verse, and in a majority of the branching off main verses that exist from that point ( although i do acknowledge that in show verse their marriage was annulled, that is not the canon that i adhere to ) in every verse proceeding that exists where her husband is still alive. i am willing to write ships where she was betrothed to someone else, or one where she stayed single and stayed in dorne, serving as doran's steward. however she might feel about rhaegar, she is not going to cheat on him, in any way shape or form - both because i do not believe this is in character for her personally, and it is not a plot that i as the mun care to explore - though i hold no judgment towards or for any mun who chooses to do so. she is demisexual and biromantic.
my muse's feelings on your character do not equal my own feelings on the character, and i reserve the right to have my character react in the manner with how i believe most in line with how she would organically react in that situation, and your muse is more then welcome to react however you see fit in turn, even if the interaction is antagonistic. i want the dynamics on this blog to flow naturally, in a way that is in line with both your muse and mine.
my iteration of elia nymeros martell lives with celiac's disease, and it has contributed to the development iron defiency anemia as well. she has good days, and she has bad days, and there are stretches in time where she has a strong level of energy and there are those where she doesn't, and there are days where she can't leave her bed, and there are those where she might come off a bit reserved because she's using the energy that she does to keep herself going. she has migraines that often remerge, and have, since childhood. she can, and at times, she does get dizzy on those low energy days where she does accidentally overexert herself over what she perceives as necessity, re: the demands of court. her bones and joints ache, at times, most especially in the cold. as a child she was often kept a wake in the night when it got cold in dorne, and rarely forced herself to try and sleep. often she read by candle light until she was weary enough to sleep.
she is more then aware of the prevailing anti dornish sentiment among the courtiers of king aerys ii, enabled by king aerys himself. she will be ? politely weary speaking to most of them that she doesn't know for a certainty that she can trust. she is far more comfortable on dragonstone then she is at the red keep.
elia is very much sweet, and gentle. she is kind, loyal and polite. she is good, but she is also ? reserved. perceptive, quiet. careful.she is an intelligent, sensitive woman who does have the capacity for anger. she is a prideful woman, who while she may not speak at the time, will not merely suffer slights as they come. she is forgiving, but she believes there is no forgiveness without an apology, and she prioritizes honesty and trust above absolutely all, and believes it is ? essential to connection. she chooses, actively, to be sweet, and gentle, she chooses constantly to be kind and it is not an easy choice to consistently make - but she does it all the same.
she is a romantic, and for the majority of her childhood did long for a love match. she did care very much for baelor hightower, but the issue there, beyond the joke that made her unable to look at him without laughing, was that they were too perfectly fitted. there would have been no challenge for each other, no room for growth for the two of them that would have made each other better, which would have made her truly happy. she would have been content, but not necessarily happy, which would have made the difference between care and love for her.
she is a talented painter, and adequate where sketching is concerned. and though she prefers that avenue of artistry to embroidery, and knitting, elia does however find the latter calming, and a way to steady herself, and gather her thoughts. her focus where painting is concerned is portraiture, her portfolio also includes a good number of backgrounds. her style is a blend of realism and romanticism.
she is skilled with both the high harp, and the violin. though she learned the latter a few years before she learned the former, and as a result is more comfortable with it, she is also at ease with the harp. while she can sing, she rarely does.
while she does enjoy reading about the histories, and does so often, her heart lays in literature. she has decidedly ? large collection of nothing but poetry; volumes from the same author, and ones containing poems from all different ones. written versions of stage plays. and in modern she would have a lot of fantasy books ( things like lord of the rings, priory of the orange tree etc. )
she has always wanted children. we see the display of her maternal instinct in her teens when she and oberyn go on progress and visit casterly rock and meet the lannister twins and the infant tyrion. it is a want that pervaded throughout the years, and even when talks of her marriage were placed on the back burner after she was bedridden for the next week and a half after returning to sunspear post from pure exhaustion, as well as ? experiencing another week of low energy days. it was the main reason she was even entertaining potentially marrying later after her mother said she could make the choice. though, after her niece was born, for a while there she started ? thinking that potentially she didn't need to have her own kids to be able to help nurture children. and then her mother approached her a few months later, and asked that if she could arrange a match for political advantage for her, would she be willing to wed. she had said yes, and she didn't hear anything for near two years before she was told of the match.
though i do not believe elia would hand over her son so another baby would be killed in his place, i am willing to write with writers who have young griff as aegon vi with a slight edit to the story, in that, elia handed aegon over, and was found alone, as she had sent her two year old daughter rhaenys running from the room mere moments before the mountain entered the nursery. it was varys who put the unknown baby boy's body there before the lannister guardsmen entered to take them to place them before the iron throne.
she was summoned to the red keep to answer for the whereabouts of her husband after brandon stark arrived, and shouted for him to come out and die. while she did not know that lyanna would be with him, she did know to some extent where he was going initially when he left dragonstone. the princess repeatedly gave no answer to the question when asked by king aerys' council members, and claimed that she could not say, for what she knew was known long ago, and had nothing to do with the northern girl. whatever rhaegar was doing now, she couldn't possibly know.
