SPICED TAKES HOME AWARD FOR FAVORITE VOCAL ARTIST AT 2018 MAMA IN JAPAN

Performing for the first time as a group since their charity concert in September, SPICED made their appearance at MAMA in Japan. The four divas proved themselves to be amongst the top performers of the night as they sang their 2018 release, ‘Lonely Night’. Not long after their vocally powerful stage the group was rightfully awarded the Best Vocal Performance Award! Leader Gemi gave a brief yet sincere speech.

“Thank you so much for this award! First and foremost we’d like to thank our beautiful fans, our red hots, for supporting all four of us during this year. We really couldn’t have done it without you. And of course to everyone involved in our album, Soulstice. All the people who helped out behind the scenes to make us look and sound good. And finally, I want to thank my members. You’ve all worked so hard this year, and I’m always going to be proud of SPICED.”

Jinny concluded the speech by promising to show more exciting sides to SPICED in 2019, and they will work hard to become even stronger performers.

their stage presence is honestly unrivaled. their concert was amazing, and they stole the show tonight!

i hope that they’ll promote more next year. we got so much from them in 2017, and hardly anything in 2018... i understand why, but it still sucks as a fan.

JINNY RELEASES SIXTH MINI ALBUM, “THE DOLLHOUSE”

A little over a year since her last solo release, Jinny has returned with a new mini album: The Dollhouse. This time, she takes on a dark and sexy image that’s perfect for the autumnal season, leading its listeners through a twisted tale of magic, seduction, and murder.

The Dollhouse tells the story of a man obsessed, so in love with a doll that he’s willing to use dark magic to bring her to life. At first, she’s so grateful to him, happy to be human, that she’s willing to do anything he wants. But his intentions were never good, and the feelings of infatuation he has for her are unnatural and unhealthy. She quickly realizes that he doesn’t truly love her; he loves the idea of her, and wants to keep her all to himself. He traps her, keeping her locked away in giant dollhouse, and watches her every movement. She makes attempts to escape, only to be pulled right back in and punished for her behavior. Unable to find any other way out, she decides her only option is to seduce her captor, convincing him that she’s just in love as he is, and promising to give him anything he wants.

The album follows her journey, starting at the very beginning with the title track, Plastic Love, a song that details her magical transformation from an inanimate object into a living, breathing object of affection. It’s followed by Enchanting, a sultry track that expresses the devotion that she feels toward the man that brought her to life, promising to be by his side no matter what. It’s after this, however, that she learns about the man’s true intentions, and decides that she must convince him that she’s completely in love with him, the only way to gain his trust. She’s forced to mask her true emotions, as explained in Camouflage, hiding her disgust and pulling him in closer with her sweet words. Destiny and Hidden Fantasies follow her attempts to seduce him, both songs full of promises that she never plans to keep and false declarations of love, while Want You Closer is a track that showcases the progress she’s made in doing so. The final song on the album, Your Lies, reveals her manipulation, letting the man know that she was never fooled by him or under his control. The truth is what sets her free, eventually killing her cruel captor before making her final escape to live a new and happy life as a human being.

Along with releasing two music videos for Plastic Love and Want You Closer, Jinny is set to promote the album for three weeks, appearing on music and variety shows.

GEMI PERFORM SOLO STAGES AT SPICED’S FOURTH ANNUAL CHARITY EVENT!

Spiced’s fourth annual charity concert proved bigger and better than ever this year. With more stages, more guest appearances, more merchandise and more fans than ever before, the event was a sure success. Gemi made an introductory speech on behalf of her group before they took the stage to perform some of their best and latest hits. She came out various times in between sets to introduce fellow artists as well as interacted with fans. Towards the latter half of the show, Gemi stepped out to perform by herself. She performed new ballad song, ‘Busy’, as the video (a compilation of personal videos) played behind her. She then moved on to her newest and more upbeat tracks, ‘Baby’ and ‘Let’s Go’ before ending singing a short, acapella rendetion of ‘I’m Your Baby Tonight’ by Whitney Houston. Gemi also made sure to give a big shoutout and a special moment on the big screen to her mother, step father, and two sisters who came to watch the performance.

JINNY PERFORMS SOLO STAGES FOR SPICED CHARITY CONCERT

Spiced’s annual charity concert has been deemed a success for the fourth year in a row, and this year’s show was bigger and better than anything they’ve done yet. Performances and special stages featuring names from all over the music industry made for a day-long event, filling every second with old songs, new songs, and even covers. Jinny was no exception to this, and in between her group performances with the other members of Spiced, she had three solo stages that really impressed the crowd. Starting with a throwback to her days before Spiced, she performed her 2006 song, HURRICANE, showing everyone that even 12 years after its release, she’s still as talented and youthful as ever. Later on, after performances from a number of other artists, she returned to the stage with fan-favorite, TWENTY FIVE. She was able to showcase the girl-next-door image that’s had people falling for her for years, only to return to the stage a few songs later to show off her sexy and elegant side with her 2016 hit, TOUCH LIKE THAT.

After all three of her performances, she took the time to talk to the crowd, both about the cause they were raising money for, and her own work in the future. Although she didn’t explicitly say that she would be having a solo comeback anytime soon, many Red Hots feel that she hinted at it by suggesting that she’ll be working on a “special project” soon. Whether or not that’s true, fans are sure that any project she has in her future will be a success.

I just think it’s funny that, even for a charity concert held by her entire group, featuring so many artists, she still needed to take the spotlight and perform on her own. People need to open their eyes and realize how much of an attention-hog she really is.

SOOJIN PERFORMS SOLO FOR SPICED CHARITY CONCERT!

Soojin made her solo appearance for the concert with performances of her 2018 releases ‘Holiday’ and ‘Star’. The Pretty Spice changed up her Holiday performance with a callback to last year’s charity concert by having L:OVELESS’ Mina cover the rap section. Compared to their hot trouble making last year, the ladies were very casual on stage and had a lot of fun with both each other and the audience. Soojin also did a sweet performance of ‘Star’, giving the audience a break from the intense performances with her soft vocals and beautiful smile.

It makes me so happy to see how much she’s improved as a vocalist. I never thought that she’d get a solo comeback!

Why do I feel like Soojin and Mina are just trying to get the spotlight on them with these performances? No one likes a show stealer.

No matter how you feel about her, you have to applaud the fact that she always puts in her best effort. Not everyone can say they do that.

SPICED HOLDS ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL CHARITY CONCERT

For the fourth year in a row, Spiced has held their annual charity concert at the Jamsil Arena in Seoul. Compared to previous years, this year’s show was bigger and better than ever before, with various collaborations for the concert and performances from their labelmates L:OVELESS, reBØL, PYXIE, AST✫RAL, PANDORA, eSPIRIT, and Brooklynn Ahn, and other artists such as BEAU, Mellow, Senshi, upcoming TQENT group HEX:Girls, and soloists Bohee, NINEBANG, Bang Chaeyeong, Mimsy, Maestar of MJSA, Selene of Creep, and former Kingz member Jung Daeho.

Opening up with a speech delivered by the four members, Spiced moved to give the first performances of the event with a mashup of their recent release STARRY NIGHT and Camila Cabello’s HAVANA, before handing the stage over to their guests for performances and small speeches. In between guest performances, Spiced made appearances throughout the day to perform their previous tracks UNIVERSE, TOUCH ME, I SWEAR (TO YOU), NO LOVE, OUR NIGHT, an acoustic version of IS THIS LOVE? (featuring Harlowe’s guitar skills), HOT SHOT, and their original release for the concert, ATOMIC. Both subunits also released original songs for the concert, with Spektrum releasing COME CLOSER and Red releasing MAKE ME FEEL.

Since the first year, Spiced has proudly been in charge of many aspects of the concert planning, from the charity of choice for the year to arranging guest performers. After moving from YMJ Entertainment to a company that was more music-oriented, and the various setbacks that the group endured in 2017, many were pleasantly surprised to find that the four members were just as involved in the concert’s planning, even as it’s grown in size and popularity. Although there are no signs of another comeback for the group in 2018, dedicated Red Hots and casual fans alike are still hopeful for whatever Spiced will dabble in next, confident that it’ll be of the best quality like the group is known for.

The concert felt more a music festival to me. There were so many acts, I couldn’t believe how many performances they had. Definitely their biggest charity concert yet!

gemi has released two music videos onto her personal YouTube channel, marking her first solo releases of the year. both songs are refreshing dance pop tracks about summer romances and spending time with the one you love. the surprise drops of these songs come as she has been announced as the new face of clothing company, golden gardens, and both songs serve as promotional videos for the upcoming launch. along with her new collaboration with golden gardens, both tracks also feature american dance troupe, skyhi, as it’s been revealed that gemi has been working closely with their studio over the last few months. it’s unclear what else gemi has up her sleeves for the next few months, but for now enjoy these tracks from her.

in the description of each video, gemi leaves a small note that reads: “it’s been too long, but I’m coming back...you guys know I wouldn’t let the summer end without giving you a little something ☺️thanks to gg and skyhi 💕 ”

Last night, multinational clothing brand, Golden Gardens, revealed Gemi to be the face of their newest collections. This comes as a surprise to Gemi’s fans as she’s been relatively quiet over the last few months. She was serve as the sole muse and main model (both commercial and runway) for at least the next five collections to come. It has also been revealed that as a part of her negotiations in her contract, she will receive a undisclosed amount of clothing to be able to gift to fans at her events. Gemi is believed to have already shot promotional ads that feature clothing from the pre-release collection.

JINNY ANNOUNCED AS NEW FACE OF LIPTON TEA

The popular global tea brand, Lipton, has selected SPICED’s Jinny as their newest ‘Lipton Girl’. Known for her refreshing and youthful image, she was chosen by the company to represent them as the 4th Lipton Girl, a campaign that started in 2016. The campaign has proven to be favorable among teenagers and young adults, as the Lipton Girl, who is expected to effectively convey the bright and positive brand image, has always been portrayed by some of the most popular idols and models at the time. The 2018 campaign will center around the slogan “Delicious Relaxation, Lipton Up!” and will include a series of digital videos starring Jinny, all exploring ways that Lipton tea can solve problems caused by a lack of energy. She has already finished shooting the photos for the promotional campaign, and the commercials are expected to start airing in the next two weeks.

SPICED ANNOUNCES DATE FOR ANNUAL CHARITY CONCERT

Known and praised for their activism and being vocal about societal issues, Spiced has made a yearly tradition of holding a charity concert and donating the proceeds to various organizations. Last year’s concert in August was the group’s first since signing to DM RECORDS in early 2017, and it had one of the highest turnouts yet. As summer starts to come to a close, fans have begun to wonder about the yearly concert due to the unfortunate events in the previous year, from Minni’s departure from the group to legal issues related to their maknae Harlowe and their former company YMJ Entertainment.

Red Hots can stop worrying though, since DM RECORDS has announced that Spiced will be holding their annual charity concert on September 15th. Not much more has been revealed, but an artist lineup should be coming in the weeks leading up to the concert, along with the charity cause for the year!
