I went through the entirety of the ao3 tags (well, complete fics only) and I bookmarked my favourites…i’m sure i missed some good ones BUT i snagged quite a few, i hope some people get some enjoyment out of this list…it makes me feel worthy and useful to compile these damn things 

I’ll Most Likely Kill You in the Morning - 46, 465 words  Foggy and Matt never met at school. They cross paths for the first time while working opposite sides of a case, and Matt doesn’t leave an impression beyond the superficial: a blind, pro-bono crusader who Foggy will feel really guilty about having to oppose in court one of these days. The Boxer-Puncher - 11,036 words “Matt, you’re my best friend, but you’re a goddamn idiot sometimes. It’s not about you. I’m not training, I’m not looking to get in a ring or do what you do. Matt can’t see the sign, but he can probably sense the flourish, which is what matters. “It says, ‘It has been ‘0’ days since Matt made an idiotic decision.”

“Doesn’t seem like it will inspire much trust from our clients.”

What the sign instead inspires: debates, understanding, a patented Murdock-level guilt trip, ice cream celebrations, a kiss, and perhaps even a way to finally move forward.

[M, 38k] Bucky Barnes wakes up in the future, joins the Avengers, reunites with Steve, makes some new friends and some old enemies, gets called Robocop and tries to figure out the future, himself, and Clint Barton’s middle name – all while being haunted by his past, the things he can’t remember and the creeping suspicion that Black Widow knows something he doesn’t.

Bruce tends to be a little touch-aversive at first (probably stemming from some trust issues that he has with people in general), which really bums Thor out because he’s just really touchy and affectionate. He respects Bruce’s boundaries, though. But Bruce eventually warms up to him, and pretty soon he begins to associate calmness with being held in Thor’s arms.

That being said, Thor is just. Super cuddly. Bruce’ll be sitting on the couch with his head buried in one of his scientific journals, and Thor will just come up to him and nestle right in beside him. You’d think he’d accidentally crush Bruce or something on accident but no, he’s actually incredibly gentle. 

Bruce gets really excited whenever he talks about his projects, and Thor’s heart just melts when he sees Bruce’s eyes light up as he’s talking about them.

Bruce also gets easily absorbed in his work, and he usually skimps on things like eating and sleeping when he does. Thor notices this, and starts bringing him meals and urging him off to bed at more reasonable times.

On a slightly gloomier note: Thor feels like he has an image to maintain as “the strong one.” He needs to be strong for others in order to protect and comfort them, and as a result, he feels like there’s no room for him to have his own feelings. He has this really bad habit of repressing things like stress and grief, but occassionally these feelings will break through to the surface and manifest into anger or coldness (which he’s not proud of, but it happens anyways). Bruce confronts him about this, and they have a heart-to-heart on the virtues of vulnerability. 

Thor starts to open up more after this c:

Bruce has a telescope in his apartment. Thor sees this and thinks it’s kind of lame. He offers to take Bruce to see the stars up close, and Bruce heartily agrees. 

They do a whole bunch of celestial sight-seeing. It’s pretty rad. 

Bruce likes the alien planets well enough, but he’s got a soft spot for their Solar System. They visit places like Earth’s moon and Mars, wherein Thor mistakes one of the Mars rovers as some hostile alien tech (”I thought you said this planet was uninhabited?!”) and proceeds to zap the shit out of it. Bruce, horrified, attempts to fix it the best he can.

Bruce takes Thor to a Norse history museum. He gets into a bit of a fight with an unwitting historian, insisting that they’ve gotten some of their facts wrong, and trust him, he knows what he’s talking about because he was there to see it. Bruce has to escort his boyfriend out of there before he causes a power outage.

He doesn’t want to ask them to keep it down because he doesn’t really think they would listen anyway and he doesn’t think it’s a big deal (even though it kind of is).

And Thor is concerned about how Bruce is always going off to be alone. And when Thor finds out why he wants to help.

and Bruce is like ??why?? its fine I can deal with it and Thor is like because you shouldn’t have to deal with it

 so Thor takes it upon himself to do something, because is Bruce isn’t gonna take care of his mental health then Thor will.

He makes an effort never to raise his voice anywhere around Bruce and whenever anyone else does Thor gets so pissed he starts radiating electricity and fucking up the electronics in the area (blowing out bulbs, frying phones, and short circuiting the building more than once). It doesn’t take long for everyone to take a hint and keep things calm and civil.

The Hulk noticed that something was off about Thor when he came for their weekly sparring. He wasn’t hitting quite as hard and he seemed to be somewhere else, to the point Hulk managed to land a few hits that would have easily been blocked.

“Thor gone.” Hulk grunted as Thor picked himself off the ground, dusting off his knees.

“Gone? What do you mean gone, I’m right here.”

Hulk grunted again, frustrated. Thor watched him thoughtfully as as Hulk reached up and put his hand to his head before making a soft ‘boom’ sound and making wiggling his fingers to imitate an explosion.

“My, my head is gone?” Thor asked, confused.

“No! Thor gone!”

Thor looked at the ground puzzled. “Gone, gone.” He muttered to himself. “My head is, is gone, somewhere else? Oh, do you mean my head is elsewhere? That I’m not paying attention?”

The Hulk made an affirming sound and turned to pick his hammer up from the ground. “Training done. Thor gone.”

“Wait!” Thor said.

Hulk turned to him, intending to tell him no again, but he saw Thor looking. Strange. He had the same face as when Hulk showed him where the quinjet was on Sakaar.

“What? Why weird face?”

Thor clapped his hands together awkwardly. “My face isn’t weird.”

Hulk made an impatient noise in the back of his throat and made to walk away again, only to be halted once again by a fumbling God of Thunder.

“Wait, there is something, I need your input on.” When the Hulk didn’t leave Thor took it as an incentive to continue. “It’s about Banner.”

The Hulk made a bit of a face, his bottom lip jutting out in a slight pout. Banner was still a bit of a sore subject, they’d been working on their shared dynamic and come to a bit of an understanding but it was rocky at best.

“What Banner?”

“W-well you see, I, I’ve found myself in a bit of a predicament. In which I am, finding myself to be, quite fond of Banner. I am unsure of how to speak to him of my affections, and I thought, who knows Banner better than anyone. I was hoping, you would be open to helping me?”

The Hulk gave Thor a calculating look, and in the back of his mind the was a slight twinge of awareness.

“Banner likes puny God. Tell him.”

Thor nearly dropped stormbreaker, his cheeks flooding with color. “Truly? He does?”

Hulk nodded, a bit slower than usual, like he was considering something. “Both do.”

Thor grinned, delighted. “This is wonderful news! I will- Wait.” Thor paused, turning to look back and the Hulk incredulously. “Did you just say both? As in the two of you?”

The Hulk crossed his arms defensively, looking a bit like a put out child. “Yes.”

Of course he was surprised when Thor’s smile grew even wider. “Oh Hulk! That is even more wonderful news! I wasn’t sure if you were, not to say capable but, interested really, oh this just keeps getting better!” Thor said enthusiastically, grabbing Hulk’s hand and kissing it gently.

“We’ll have to discuss this more thoroughly of course, and get Banner’s opinion but I am delighted!” Thor babbled. “I’ll have to make preparations and courting gifts, and-”

The Hulk cut Thor off by grabbing his face, covering his mouth but in a way that was gentler than he had in previous instances. “Idiot God. Talk to Banner.” He murmured.

Thor paused, a flicker of understanding in his eyes before he pried the Hulk’s hand away. “Yes of course! I will see you again at a later date. Until then!”

So the avengers are a thing, and Thor and Bruce are both part of it, but no one knows that Bruce = Hulk

Like when Bruce joined he didn’t want people to judge him about it so he told tony for logistic purposes but no one else knows

They all just think that Bruce is Tony’s science friend

When everyone gets called into battle Bruce just waved them goodbye and if it’s a code green he takes a separate remote controlled jet and hulks out mid flight

Everyone just views hulk as Tony’s attack dog (because tony seems to be the only one who knows where hulk came from) but Thor is all “this Hulk is a mighty warrior. I will give him due praise” and is always friendly to Hulk and compliments him on his smashing

They become friends and Thor realizes that hulk isn’t just a fighting machine, he does actually have emotions beside anger

And Thor worries about where tony keeps hulk between fights and confronts tony on it and gets mad when tony won’t tell him bc he’s worried that hulk is being mistreated

MEANWHILE- Bruce is crushing a little bit on Thor (aren’t we all tbh) and wants to get closer to him but doesn’t bc social anxiety and the whole Hulk situation

Tony convinced him that being friends wouldn’t hurt and then keeps “coincidentally” inviting Thor to the lab when Bruce is also there

Thor is smitten and could listen to Bruce go on for hours about his experiments

When Thor gets mad at tony for not telling him about the hulk, he vents to Bruce

Bruce assures him that the hulk is fine

Thor asks about what and where the hulk is and is hurt when Bruce won’t tell him

Even though he knows that Thor is better than that a part of Bruce still worries that he’ll be freaked out

They grow a little distant over that, and it’s made worse bc Bruce is being withdrawn

Hulk keeps trying to come out more even when there’s no fight bc he wants to spend time with his buddy Thor, Bruce is opposed to this for obvious reasons

Thor sees that Bruce is struggling with something and resolves to move past their argument so that he can comfort him

But then there’s some really major alien threat and the whole team gets called away

Bruce ends up going with them bc there’s some really weird radiation being given off by the enemy ship and they need him there to keep an eye on it and make sure it’s nothing really dangerous

He is under strict orders to stay on the jet with his equipment so that there’s no chance of a hulk out, but he sees Thor in danger and rushes to help

Thor sees tiny, breakable Bruce charging onto the fray and feels heart stopping, gut wrenching fear. Fear that he’ll lose Bruce, fear that he’ll never get to hear him ramble about science again, fear that he’ll never get to show him the stars

Then before his eyes Bruce turns into the hulk and starts tearing through enemies like paper

And suddenly everything makes sense and Thor is happy because his dear friend and his crush are one in the same

And after everything’s done Bruce changes back and rushes back to the jet bc ohgodeveryoneknowsohgodohgod

And Thor wants to run after him but tony stops him and explains the situation to everyone, how Bruce wanted to keep it a secret

And Thor is so sad, because he can’t imagine the burden of it, having to sharing your existence and then being afraid to even tell your closest friends

And later, when they’re back at hq, everyone is being kind and supportive to Bruce, but he’s still avoiding Thor bc he can’t chance Thor treating him bad

But Thor confronts him in the lab one day and he starts to explain how he doesn’t care, he loves Bruce and hulk and he wouldn’t change anything. But he gets a sentence into his speech and sees how Bruce is shaking, anticipating hate

And Thor cautiously approaches him and slowly pulls him close so that Bruce has Tim to push him away if he doesn’t want it

But he does and he lets Thor hold him and tell him how much he loves and respects him and that nothing’s changed

And in the end they get together and Bruce even lets hulk out now and then when there’s not a fight so that he and Thor can hang out

-bruce loves flowers and thor gets them for him every tuesday barring battles or clean-up 

-bruce always texts thor the worst compilations of him on interview shows 

-they both like street tacos and both their twitters is basically “hey we’re getting street tacos for the sixth time this week we know it’s only tuesday but still” 

-thor cries over pictures of wrinkly dogs and bruce gets a video of it 

-the media keeps calling them “friends” and they have a “bromance” until bruce gets so frustrated that he says “we fucked on wednesday, susan, how hetero is that?”
