At 12.15 pm the RMS Titanic was launched from the Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast (Northern Ireland). With a length of 269 meters and a tonnage of 46,328 tons the ocean liner was designed to be the largest and most luxurious ship of her time.

Present at the event: Lord Pirrie, chairman of Harland and Wolff, the magnate J. P. Morgan, Bruce Ismay, White star administrator and the architect Thomas Andrews and more than 100,000 spectators; as the Titanic slid into the River Lagan, cheers erupted celebrating the new ship.
