Aona's Hypnosis Stuff

Heres an interesting idea, theres a core identity of mine, that I’m so afraid to change, so afraid to proclaim, so afraid to be any different. It kind of haunts me, in a way,  I look upon myself, and I’m afraid.

For example, in private. I am willing to called someone I consider so close to me, so dear to me a sister, my sis’, and while we’re not related by blood, we’re such good friends, so deeply profound friends. That we consider on another family.

So why is it, I choke, when addressing her in public with such assignment? I’m afraid of being seen as weird, or  doing something unlike me. I find myself in constant situations, where I feel like I’ve become uninteresting, unentertaining, simply because I’m afraid- I fear what others think of me.

I’’ve argued I do not, and I for the most part, would agree with myself. But there is a single dip to this, a small caveat. I’m afraid to change my core identity, do something that isnt the established me.

I choke when it comes to titling my doms int he pas,t I choke when it comes doing certain things infront of others. I’m shy, I’m timid, I want all of these things, I want them all. I want to commit, do them, fall forward, and embrace every part of me.

There is a beautiful person in me, and I feel she is just crying, clawing, and trying to get out. But a part of me thats so well designed as a prison, keeps me from change, keeps me from success. I may aspire to constantly improve. But I find myself in the position, of being fearful of being something im not, being something out of character.

Even in hypnosis, it is actually one of my little highlights. I dont even allow hypnosis to be a good enough excuse to behave like a dork, or a silly person sometimes, it takes a lot of convincing, reminding, and a lot of overall work.

I’m not sure sometimes, this is like some intangible barrier that effects more than just hypnosis, it effects my personal life, it effects core components, thankfully it doesnt block my empathy, my ability to throw myself at people to help them. As that is already a core idea of my person. 

So today I went tist mode again, well I suppose that wasnt surprising. Doing research for my next writeup, I decided the topic I am going to cover. I’ve been talking back and forth with some of my personal friends in the hypnosis community, and I had a pretty lengthy conversation.

It seems that induciton skill is actually I think most of peoples weakness, but priming often seems non-existent, or very basic level. This is in line that pre-talk is on a similiar level to say,  priming.

Now the sample size of information that I have is only accounting for average individuals, if you do any of these things. I’d already rank you higher. I’ve spent dabbling between various hypno communities, and people throwing inductions get right to playing, less talking. 

This is why I say the things I say. Even when yoiu try to derialt hem, they’re not keenly interested in humanizing you sometimes. They seem often putoff, or disinterested, or keenly unaware about how important some steps are.

But an interesting thing I’ve encoutnered a few hypnotists who have good baseline skills, but lack of knowledge. Something I noted, as they had really good word flow, and pacing. But their structure was very clinical, very much rooted in traditional hypnosis at its core, feeling very well,  lets just say, unoriginal. 

So the discussion I had highlighted that, I’m pretty strong at priming, I’m not the best, I’m pretty good at pre-talk, again not the best. But, I feel damn confident about my induction skills. Now admittedly this is where my skills decline, I’m a specialist remember.  Post-hypnotics aren’t really my skillset. I’m above average, but not very interested in post-hypnotic stuff, or the ‘play phase’ as we called it. 

And thats another phase that came up between me and my friends. Whenever we encountered other hypnotists, or switches, etc. We’d often find that, people know how to do inductions the best, but struggled with playing with stuff afterward.

It gave an interesting thought.  My only issue was, I need emotional attachment to the person to want to do it, but I do most of my playing in the induction phase. While bringing them deeper, and such. I make all the suggestions.

After I wrote my article or post, on the pre-talk discussion, I’m currently just in the workshop at the moment, kind of figuring out what topic to cover next. I want to cover all the primary basic things of hypnosis. But some are far to advanced, or far to deep to easily go into.

Would even the basic theory talk of hypnosis be even appropriate?

Maybe I can discuss language ?or creativity? Mmm.. still. Not to sure. I had an idea for some earlier but they poofed out of my head. Got tranced a bit, woops didnt write it down.

Who am I? About Me.

Now, I’m sure many people are not so familiar with me.  I’m not a super above the pay grade well versed expert in this particular topic. I’m much more well known for being a specialist in small communities within the greater hypnosis community. I’m not famous, or well known. I’m simply that person who just does hypnosis and is a specialist for analytic and critically minded subjects, and those that have birthed a complex from many failures.

As of this moment, I’ve mostly cast my mantle as a hypnotist aside, I’ve not much drive or aspiration, no real enjoyment do I get out of hypnotizing people, but I still enjoy educating, teaching, and sharing the skills I grinded and studied tirelessly.  I became a hypnotist as a part of some mission to learn how to be hypnotized and after 3-4+ years, I managed my break through. I succeeded.  

This will likely be the start of my series, the beginning point. This is a part of a written series of posts that I’m hoping to write, and work on, and have it looked through it so carefully.  So there is a bit of extra text for padding.

What is Pre-talk

Really, it’s prob not even its official name, but let’s discuss pre-talk more as a concept than as a concrete thing. I’m going to start with describing what it is. This isn’t a job solely meant for the hypnotist alone, so I’m going to serve this to both the audience of subjects and hypnotists.

It is a responsibility best carried out by both parties, something extremely rare, but it only takes one person to really initiate the process, and to get the ball rolling.  So what is it?

Initially before a session, you should really talk about just simply limits, and such for hypnosis- ideally, but there is more nuance to that. There are mandates, setting limits, validating consent, knowing what you’re allowed to do, and clarifying what your intent is. Working with regulars, you may bend the rules a bit, but only if you’ve agreed mutually for surprises.

We have a culture of unhealthy one-offs, people are just wanting to ‘shack up’ and never talk again, it actually happens pretty much all the time.  This isn’t so bad, but I find that during my own excursions, as a subject. I’d run into countless hypnotists who just wanted to get in my pants, get in my head, and be done.

Let’s be honest, I’m sure for somebody, that is appealing, but for me, that isn’t super great, it doesn’t feel comfortable, and this stranger wants to go places with me, that well, I really shouldn’t subject myself to being. And being an already critically minded subject, having poor rapport, or even a poor opinion on a hypnotist is actually detrimental to me.

Upon hearing this today, I cannot believe how much I was infuriated to hear someone being outed, exhiled, and mistreated because they were labeled as impossible? are they telling me a tall tale? Am I just fricken losing my mind. Because holy heck, I cannot begin to start. with just how flipping mad I am.

Lets begin, I advocate for the group of, and the peopels of that make up the analytically minded subject, but I also seek to represent all subjects that fall into a category of “Difficult” or “Impossible” often times labeled by others, or even ourselves. Feelings of being inadequate.

Just to put that there, I wrote a post on this, its a no brainer. I am prob gonna write an update in the near future. but holy heck. this is just insane.  Here I am trying to think of all new hypnosis content for my blog/tumblr. and I’m hit with this idealogy of bs I escaped years ago. From my understanding this particular sub was in a group containing well above 20 people.  If a majority  or any one of those people know better, or knew why the person was kicked.

And still rallied with that group for a sake of social standing. I’d be prominently disturbed. It makes me sick, it really does.

Its all in your head. the only difficulty is the people who give up, and dont want untie the mess caused by every other predecessor, every hypnotist that screwed up a subject, and made their complex increasingly worse. It is not hard to bring someone under. 

You’re all just cutting corners, not doing pre-talk, not even engaging in proper protocol and even aftercare.  This isn’t directed at everyone, but theres a good chunk of hypnotists who obviously just try to cut corners with new subjects, which is always a terrible idea, if you’re working with someone the first time, especially if you have no idea their history, etc. It’s good to spend a moment to work with them. Set expectations, figure out the intent, the goal, the boundaries, discuss their personage. Humanize each other. for crying out loud.

I can’t begin to express how frustrating it is. To see people still be doing this, I strive so ahrd to educate people, that I’m planning a new series of tumblr posts. I may even try to work with some other people on tumblr. I think I’ll do that. I think we need to do something. Because I’m losing my mind here.
