"I will, 'til the day I die." He remarked back to her. "You better remember that I've had your back too, Romanoff."

"Oh yeah? Did Valentina put you up to this, huh?" Those damn Thunderbolts of her, he thought with a huff.

"Those are my only options?" His half smile turned into something of a grimace, folding his arms. "Fine, but this is going to fall on you if it doesn't work out."

The corners of his lips curved into a small smile. "That does sound kinda nice, Wanda." He replied gently. He had taken a liking to the redhead, in a platonic way of course. She brought a calm that he hadn't felt in a long time.

"Alright. You were worth it. Why are you getting upset at me over somethin' I wasn't even involved in?"

"You're being dramatic, Carter." He insisted, squeezing the trigger a couple times before falling back behind his cover. "What makes you think a little cut like this is gonna stop me?" Fury asked, gesturing to the very clearly not okay bullet wound gushing blood from his thigh.

Rubbing the back of his neck, he let out a sigh and nodded slowly. "I never thought we could either, and yet, here we are. The losers." Fury knew that, in the end of things, they had fixed most of what was done, but not all of it.

"Well, look at you! A self made woman! Congratulations," He leaned back in his chair. "D'ya want a cookie or something, Maximoff?"

Narrowing his eye at Val, he shook his head lightly and brought their joins hands up to his lips, pressing a kiss across her knuckles. "It's a little cheesy, but thoughtful. Thank you."
