Hazarmaveth felt a pang of guilt at the sarcasm, realizing what he'd implied.
"I'm awful sorry to hear that." Hazarmaveth said, "There's witching in my family, but I don't think any of them have ever removed a curse before. I wish there was something I could do for ya."
He cocked his head slightly, looking down at the end of Tabi's shirt sleeves.
"So you got hands, but you can't see them?"
"This is not witchery. A literal demon put this curse on me. All 'cause I got too popular and he wanted to siphon it to his daughter..." Tabi growls slightly under his breath, hands clenching into fists as Hazarmaveth could see, beneath his black fingerless gloves, his hands were still 'visible', but only the bones of his hands and fingers. From the wrist and beyond, completely invisible.
"My hands are the only thing I can see... if only the bones. It's... fine though. I've learned to live with it. Found people like me..."
Now, Hazarmaveth had NEVER seen a human who had a skull for a face, and he nearly said so, but who was he to tell someone what they were or weren't. They knew better than he did. If Tabi said they were human, then they were human.
"Well, Tabi, you never have to worry about getting eaten looking like that." Hazarmaveth stated.
"... Wow. That is SUCH a relief." Tabi grunts, the sarcasm in his voice being quite palpable. "You know, saying things like that only make me worry more, right? Just hope you're not hungry right now..."
He tightens his hoodie a bit more around himself, before he huffs anew. "And besides, I'm not a... normal human. This skull is cursed. It makes my whole body invisible, and I can't remove it."
"Well, I don't see no reason for us to be enemies yet." Hazarmaveth replied, cocking his head slightly, "Ain't you a Rawhead, like me?"
Tabi cocks his head in return, almost mirroring Haz's movements as he just stares up at the monster. Did... Did he think that they were the same? That he was some sort of youngling monster?
"Wh- Nyet! I'm not a-... whatever you called me! Look, I might have a skull on my head, but that does not make me a monster. I'm a human!"
@thembloodybones | x
"... Tabi."
The name was given, as the Russian-accented young man huffs and cross his arms, seemingly not scared at all of this boogie-man... wendigo-looking... thing.
"And what of you? You act as if I'm a friend of yours."

“Don’t worry, I believe you ain’t doing anything like that.” Oron confirmed with Tabi, eyes peering to the mirror in order to look at the blue haired young man. “I’ll be heading home with him in the truck, might stop for some Taco Bell or some maccas… you want anything?” Figured he’d open up the offer, the best way to turn rivals into acquaintances was to share a meal together, right?
Oron looked at Tyke with a smile, giving him a thumbs up which indicated that Tabi was willing to listen to his side of the story. “Alright Tabi, I’ll see ya in a few minutes alright?” He hung up the call.
“Tabi wanted me to pass the message that he’s not planning on planting bombs in my place, if that gives you any comfort. His beef isn’t with you.” Oron started to drive towards the nearest maccas.
“Anything you want?”
"... Bic Mac meal sounds nice. A large Sprite for the drink." was all Tabi said. He was... not surprised that Oron's solution to all this was food. He's seen the fucker's eating habits once or twice now, and so he knew that food was this guy's go-to solution to anything. But, he could not fault him for it. So there was a weak chuckle at the end as he gave his own 'See ya' before hanging up.
Meanwhile, back in the truck, Tyke just blinked twice after Oron informed him of what Tabi had said, a little... shocked, but also not surprised at the bluntness of his statement. Tabi had always been blunt like that.
"Well... that's, uh... comforting, I guess?" he'd say slowly, rubbing the back of his head before he saw Oron pull up towards a nearby McDonald's, and his grin almost immediately returned. "Oh man, I could absolutely KILL for a Quarter-Pounder right now! Actually, make that a DOUBLE!"
“You seem to forget that I’m from the future, you’re phone’s security ain’t anything compared to the ICE that I had to break.” He just gave a tiny chuckle. “You left it on the kitchen counter and I guessed your passcode. Don’t worry I didn’t go snooping around, just added myself as a contact for emergency purposes.”
To Tyke, it looked like Oron was talking to himself while driving. There was no physical phone in his hand nor could he see what the mechanic was seeing and that was Tabi’s face on the very edge of Oron’s vision. Right now it was simply a static figure since he was just connecting to a regular mobile phone.
“So, I bumped into someone today… someone that knows you. That blue haired guy, Boyfriend you called him? Well he’s in the car with me.” Before Tabi could even speak up, he continued. “He wants to talk and I’m calling to arrange a mutual meeting between you two in order to clear the air. Since he’s a straggler, I’m going to have to take him in under my roof but I do not want the pair of you to break out into a fight when I’m not there, so you’re gonna have to talk.”
"I--" Tabi stops himself as he remembered that one time he left his phone in the kitchen... though to be fair, he was rather distracted by some stupid stunt that Chai had pulled that day. Either way, he decides to hear out Oron as he talks to him, and the moment he mentions Boyfriend... oh if he could see Tabi's expression upon his skull face.
"... Oh?" was all he got out before Oron resumed talking. So him and Boyfriend, under the same roof huh? That... was a prospect that he was NOT looking forward to. But, Oron was a man of conviction, and he'd probably do it anyway, regardless of his protesting. And he had to talk with him...? Well, if the blue-haired brat had something to tell him... he didn't have another choice but to listen, did he?"
"... FINE. My beef is not with him anyway..." he admits with a huff. "Tell him he's fine. I'm not planting bombs in your place, if that gives him any comfort." meanwhile, Tyke was trying to peer around the driver seat to see what Oron was doing, surprised that he was talking with no phone in his hand. Damn, future tech was so wild sometimes...

“Alright good.” Oron grasped the smaller hand with his other and gave it a firm shake. “I’ll give Tabi the heads up when we start making our way to the garage, wouldn’t want to surprise him.” And with that, he lead the other towards his truck. As the two walked, his eyes began to glow blue with a even brighter blue swirling around the irises.
-
On Tabi’s end, his phone starts to buzz. Oron must’ve gotten his phone number from somewhere and even put his own in Tabi’s because his name does show up. All the while, Oron was getting into his car and opening the door for Tyke to jump into the passenger seat.
While Tyke was getting led over to Oron's truck, Tabi was just in his room back at Oron's place, listening to some tunes to zone out and relax. He found it was the best option to clear his mind of being 'stuck' here, more or less. However, his music was interrupted as a call came through. Huh? But he thought he was not able to use his phone here... regardless, he'd pick it up, a bit surprised to see he had Oron as a contact, but shrugged as he'd answer it.
"Yeah? This is Tabi. And first off, when the hell did you get access to my phone to add yourself as a contact on it?" he'd ask right off the bat, but he was of course leaving it at that, to let Oron speak if he had something to tell him.
Hearing about all these people and their backstories, Oron couldn’t help but have a question appear in his mind. Looking down at Tabi, he just let himself blurt out. “So, is being exploited… is that common in your world or is it just people you have met through a mutual understanding of what it’s like?”
There was no offense in his tone, he was genuinely curious. Not that he had any room to judge considering the kind of world that he came from. “I mean, back where I came from, people were being incinerated to fuel a device for the rich…so I ain’t judging or anything at all.”
Yet, after everything he’s seen… Tabi’s universe has to be the strangest yet.
"Uhm... nyet? Not as far as I know. I think we're all just a bunch of unlucky bastards who picked the wrong choices, so... I guess it's the latter option?" Tabi shrugs to Oron's question. To be fair, it most likely WAS the latter answer. It wasn't the fact that it was common for the Dearest family to exploit people, though that certainly was also a scenario... they had all just drawn very unlucky hands in life. Himself, Agoti, Whitty... all of them coincidental. Or so Tabi liked to believe.
Hearing more of Oron's history, and where he was from, it actually got him to stare incredulously up at the larger man a bit.
"Burning people for fuel, huh? Sounds like your universe was real desperate." he comments, though he could be wrong for all he knew. He did mention some rich people device, after all. "But, no. I just met a bunch of people who have gone through similar stuff as I." he then looks down at his phone, realizing he had swiped to another picture he had taken. A selfie he had taken of himself, Agoti and Whitty together at a fast food joint.
His hand trembles a bit as he's holding the phone. "... I miss them already."

A clear look of confusion crossed Oron’s face at the explanation of the existence of Agoti. Though he thought about it for a moment. In his own universe, he watched a man burn up and swept up the ashes while his consciousness was transferred into a robot body. Were they drastically different things? Sure, but equally as absurd in comparisons to this universe. If there was one thing he learnt during this whole ordeal is that every universe is different, this one was rather tame compared to his own and Tabi’s was rather wild. That was the most interesting thing to him, learning about the worlds that everyone came from.
“Anything can really exist in your universe huh?” Oron gave a chuckle, putting his big hand on Tabi’s shoulder.
“Please, continue… I wanna hear more about your pals.” If it brought joy and comfort to Tabi, he was willing to listen.
"Yeah, just about anything it seems!" Tabi agrees with Oron, not minding the big hand on his shoulder. In fact, he even leaned into it, almost on reflex. He did not seem to notice his own motions, though, as he merely focused on his phone and flicked over to another image.
"Oh yeah, knew I had picture of him too! This is 'Whitty', another of my best friends! Him and Agoti get along well, too! His real name's Whitmore, but he prefers Whitty. He's a... uuh... well, he is a bomb-person, that is for certain, but even he's not too sure what he TRULY is. He was made by some weird doomsday cult, I heard..." so this 'Whitty' was essentially a living weapon.
"But he broke out and escaped, and now he's just trying to live his life too. He's got his own place though, unlike me. He's staying with his current girlfriend Carol, and a robot friend named Hex."
“Again, I think you gotta be the one to tell him that it wasn’t her fault. When we talked, I didn’t really hear to much blame being put on her, just mostly her parents. But if you really feel like you need to explain it to him, I can call him right now if you want.” He folded his arms and gave Tyke a stern nod. “I promise you, I am a neutral party in all of this. All I want is peace in this universe and if that means I gotta play referee between you two then so be it.”
He held out his hand towards Tyke for a shake, a signal that he does have Oron’s word.
“If things turn ugly, I step in. I’m large enough to separate the pair of you if either of you try to fist fight each other and that’s without my mech.” His eyes started to glow a little brighter with a flash of flames coming from his smile.
“You just gotta promise me that you will keep it civil.”
"Right, right. You ARE a big guy, yer right 'bout that. But, heh-" and Tyke gets a bit of a cheeky smirk. "I think I know a couple of guys who are bigger than even you." but he does give Oron a firm handshake, and a small grin.
"You got it, big boss-man!" he affirms once more. "I'm feelin' safe having you be the referee between the two of us! And honestly... kinda missed seeing that guy around! So this'll be a lil' bit of a 'reunion' of sorts, heh!"

“Of course you can crawl outta it, you’re still young… you got time.” There was a reassuring smile from the mechanic as he looked at the phone. He laid eyes on the one that Tabi was talking about, a little surprised by the fact that something like a digital devil could exist in their world. The concept of something like that did terrify him considering just how much his own world relied on the net.Â
Then again, if Tabi was saying earlier was true and pretty much anything could exist in their world… maybe it shouldn’t be so surprising. He did choose to stay polite though, these were Tabi’s friends afterall.
“Uh huh, interesting look he’s got going on there.” Oron pointed down at the image. “You known him for long?”
"He is very interesting in general. Believe it or not, he was 'born' when a box of VHS tapes got struck by lightning! And all the tapes and such got morphed into... well, HIM!" Tabi laughs a little at the end, as he still found Agoti's 'birth' so damn absurd. He was literally a bunch of VHS tape in a hoodie and pants.
"We've been hanging for... what, couple of months now? Coming up on a year I think. And not just him, either! He has a brother called Aldryx, too. He's VERY protective of Agoti. And they both have an adoptive dad, Solazar. He's... very strange. Apparently he comes from a race of sentient star entities... 'Solarisapiens' I think?"
He was going on and on about this guy and his adoptive family for a bit. "... Ah, apologies! Just got a bit excited, heh... a-any questions? Or should I move on?"
“Sounds like you’re dating a corpo’s daughter.” Oron said outright, folding his arms as he did so. It seems that no matter the universe, all corpos were the same. “I believe your side of the story, corpos have been stealing the work of others for almost a century now in my universe. Music industry especially is almost unapologetic about it. On top of that, she has overbearing parents that needed to step in on their relationship.”
The mechanic put his hand to his chin as if he was thinking about all of this new information. “The problem is, I believe Tabi still thinks that she was the one that planned it all and she was the one that was responsible for causing him to lose his identity and his life. If your words are true and Tabi doesn’t know the whole story, I think he has the right to know.”
Being the group therapist is hard, was he this bad with his original group?
“Look, I can set up a mutual meeting between the pair of you in the house so you can finally lay all the cards on the table. Sound good?”
"Yeah, DUH! I figured that out the moment I started datin' her!" Tyke points out. But, to Oron's credit, he was probably only now putting the pieces together. He just hoped he wasn't bombarded with too much info. Though, he seemed to have absorbed it well once he gave his summary! He nods frantically once he makes the assumption that Tabi might be left out of the whole equation.
"That's what I'm saying, bro! He thinks it's all GF's blame, too! She just wanted to feel genuine love, and she did! But if she had stuck it out with Tabi, then his career would'a gone down the gutter, and he'd get the boot the instant Daddy and Mommy were done leechin' off of him!" he huffs. "I was tryin' to tell him to stop, but then KAPOW! He blows a whole-ass restaurant up on top of us, and--"
"... Well, he already told ya that bit. Right..." he pauses himself, and lets out a sigh. "I... I do wanna meet him. He deserves to know the whole story."

“You will get back from it.” Oron was pretty firm in his response, not even saying it in his comforting tone. He was certain with his statement. “Look, I know this ain’t about me but I gotta tell ya, if I was able to crawl up from rock bottom then anyone can. It’s just a matter of not giving up.” He moved to sit down on the bed next to Tabi, looking down at the younger one.
“When I was in Australia, fightin’ for the military, I discovered that they were goin’ to take my kids away from me. Out of anger, I killed my entire squad even though it wasn’t them that gave the order to begin with. They were just like me, following the word of those who were above us in the chain of command. But I didn’t stop there, my rage led to me blowing up my base with Ironclad… Many died that day.”
A pause as Tabi dug through his pocket, pulling out a phone. It was a nice distraction before Oron got lost in his own head. “Yeah, show me your support network. Hell, if any of them end up here it’ll be nice to know who to bring back here.”
So Oron had been able to crawl out of whatever hell he had ended up in? Well, that was reassuring, in some weird way... regardless, he would look up as Oron sat beside him on the bed, meeting his eyes and hearing his tale... it was as if the two men bonded at that moment. Through their shared tales of rage and lack of control, and Tabi realized that he was serious. He... was a bit frightened, not gonna lie, but he'd just sigh.
"So many needless dying... because we got angry, huh?" he asks in a semi joking tone, chuckling sadly. "Well... blyat, if that isn't a pit to crawl out of. But... if you did it, Oron. So can I." he'd give him a nod, before the focus went back to the phone, and Tabi was already opening up the camera app to access his gallery, and the first of them to pop up was a picture of him and another... sort-of similar aged... young man?
"-- Ah! Hehe, oh that's the latest one I think! Another friend of ours took it... uh! This is Agoti! The close friend I spoke of!" and he points to the black-skinned guy with tendrils sticking out of his head. "He might look weird, or scary, but he's very good friend! He's... a "digi-devil", he calls himself. A sort of demon creature that can interact with electronic devices!"
