Hey, you are not an embarrassment for not knowing how to do certain household chores/basic self-care. They do not come naturally to us. A lot of it takes practice! Maybe you had a neglectful guardian. Maybe you had one that was very coddling and never thought to teach you. Maybe you haven't lived in a place where these things were available to you or needed. Doesn't matter. It's okay to not know and far more common than you might realise.

That said, this website provides very simple instructions on how to do everyday tasks such as making your bed, using a washing machine, cooking different foods, washing dishes, taking a shower, etc. All you have to do is use the search bar to find the task you're struggling with, and it'll come up with what you need + other related how-to's:)

If you're having trouble navigating it, let me provide you with some examples:

How to clean dishes by hand

How to make your bed (with visual demonstrations of each step!)

How to fold clothes (with visual demonstrations of each step!)

How to take a shower & dry yourself off (also provides ways to shave beards, armpits, legs and genitals)

How to shave legs, armpits, beards, pubic areas, etc. (a more in-depth guide)

How to mop the floor

How to sweep the floor

How to swallow pills

How to make small talk

How to make eye contact in different situations (or how to avoid it while still looking natural)

It's also perfectly okay if these don't help or aren't appealing to you. Unfortunately, nothing helps everyone.

..... does this mean you guys don't know about wikihow??? Dude, wikihow is on the same level of usefulness as Wikipedia. It works in basically the same way too. Articles are written by anyone with an account and fact checked by experts and other users. I've used it since FOREVER. It is so helpful! They've got multiple different articles on basically everything, and you can use the random button to get sent to a completely random article if you want to learn something new or get ideas for a craft or something to do when you're bored. Wikihow is literally incredible, I've gotta make sure everyone knows about it now.

Another site that is extremely useful and provides guides and step by step instructions for literally ALL kinds of things is Instructables. There's recipes, diy, crafts, tutorials, inventions, advice, literally everything. If you can't find what you need on Instructables, try Wikihow. Can't find what you need on Wikihow, try Instructables. Again, it works pretty much the same way as Wikipedia and Wikihow.

Having these two websites in your toolbox will literally change your life. I found Instructables like a year ago and I love it so much, it is my baby, I will never let it go. I've known about Wikihow since I was like 7, used it so many times, still use it. I literally have a tab open of it on how to structure an essay because I always forget. You're life will be so much easier and less stressful if you know about these and use them. Trust me.

(Also the how to swallow pills article suggests practicing swallowing small candy. I for years could not swallow pills, but once I started taking antidepressants, kinda had no choice but too. I used chocolate chips, and I cut them up into smaller pieces at first and then once I could swallow those without to much trouble, I switched to smaller pieces until I got to the whole chocolate chip. Took me at most an hour, probably less, of practice and I've never had to do it again, and I have no problem with swallowing any pills, no matter the size or shape. Might take you a bit longer or bit shorter, just keep practicing until you no longer after to focus on or put a lot of effort into swallowing. Try to stay calm, worrying about if you can swallow it, or what the pill will taste like, or anything else about the process, will just make it harder for you to do. Literally the smallest pill I have is the most difficult for me to swallow because I worry about the taste from its outer coating.)

I still like the term parental unit that we used to use as a joke in middle school and high school. Did everyone else do that or was it just a my social circles thing?

Anyways telling the kids to go collect their parental units at the end of an event is a) funny b) gender neutral and c) just refers to the person currently doing your parenting

Also if you’re on joking terms with your parents “greetings, child” “greetings, parental unit” is a top tier greeting. Makes you sound like robot aliens.
