I watched the joy of family members as they rediscovered art as a messy fun spontaneous half hour activity.

The stoneladies (patulinguidae) are a family of early diverging lanitubate hexapods. Jawless, these lizardlike animals use a broad, toothy pharyngeal fan to scrape vegetative mats (and whatever creatures happen to call such tiny habitats their home) into their throats, where it is further processed by an internal mill. Because many rely on what are effectively bryophytes, stonelady diversity is generally higher in wetter climates. Ironically, stoneladies are important perpetuators of the communities on which they feed, as their course setae collect spores and seeds, which they drag with them to new substrates as they forage.

Lacking the defensive edge of jaws, stoneladies must rely on camouflage, chemicals, irritating or even venomous setae, and loud and irritating noises to deter assailants. Since the coats of stoneladies are often unpleasant (occasionally extremely so) to the touch, it is generally recommended to avoid the temptation to collect them, at least with bare hands.
