Seijoh goes to Nationals!
Warning. I wrote this after I finished Haikyuu for the second time, which was about seven months agoโฆ Therefore, this is complete shit and very biased HAHAHAH. And honestly, with how Haikyuu ended I feel like I donโt need to even post this because it was finished so good. HOWEVER, as much as I donโt want to post this I still do because Iโve never seen headcanons about this and I always wanted to read one. I hope itโs alright~ You know I had to make it Matsukawa x Reader because that is my baby daddyโฆ come awn now. Also I want to add that date tech went to nationals before Seijoh did, a joke. A JOKE. Just say you hate pretty bitches and go HAHAH
Also, ugh I know what youโre thinking โomg this bitch talks so much stfuโ, I havenโt been able to write that often because I have to watch my younger cousin for like two weeks and this bitch needs constant attention. Babies are very needy :/ Thatโs why Iโve been so busy lately !! T T That and my uni is being an ass!! Life update, oo!
This deleted and I had to literally redo all my edits for it, thatโs why it took me so long to post this. I literally planned to post this the minute it turned Oikawaโs birthday and here I am three hours later. I hateโฆ. Now itโs even worse than before, I think this is a sign not to post it but I love ignoring signs
Sit down, buckle up, because I about to rewrite the entire second and third and fourth seasonย
I want to start by saying that I would sell every characterโs soul, there is no one I would save except for the entirety of Seijoh, if that meant Seijoh could have gone to nationals. Alright, now that we understand each other, now we can begin~
Instead of Karasuno beating Seijoh back to back, both sets, which we know would never have happened but they only had SO many episodesโฆโฆ Letโs change it up a bit!
Sorta differentโฆโฆ Karasuno still wins the first set but not the second or the third
The first setโฆ. Kyoutani really fucked us over with that last point but Iโm not that mad,,,,,,, if I were a manager shite-

Youโre the manager of Seijoh and have been for three years, you also went to the same middle school as Iwaizumi and Oikawa and have grown up with them for the last six years.. just a little context, some extra flavor
This tournament is the Seijoh third yearโs last chance to go to nationals ย and fuckย you are nervous,,,, so of course when you watch the last point of the first set go to Karasuno you canโt help your nerves that take over
โKyoutani!โ Your yell, hands clenched into fists by your sides, the sound of your voice causes chills to go down the first yearsโ spine. The arena falls quiet at your voice echoing throughout the gymnasium, the ref even glances down at your stiff figure trembling in anger. โWhy did you do that?โ A loud smack resonates off the walls of the gym, your hand stings from where you just hit the back of the boyโs head.ย
Iwaizumi is in front of you in seconds to do the same and Kyoutani jumps back defensively to glare at the two of you. Karasuno can only blink awkwardly as they watch the team on the other side of the court, more specifically watch the manager who previously looked too gentle to hit a fly smack a mf
โHeโll listen to (Y/N) and Iwa-chan but not me.โ Oikawa dramatically cries, gripping at his hair, and you pettily flip your hair. The second set is going to begin,,,,
You anxiously grip your clipboard, shaken by nerves as you watch your team play one they had struggled with before. Watari keeps up with the superhuman fast attack and Matsukawa/Iwaizumi/Kindaichi shut their spikers out, it seems like the first set really fired them up
Much to your relief they won the second set, 25-21ย
Deep down you can let out a breath of fresh air but in-between sets you canโt help but grip onto your boyfriend anxiously, your nerves are all over the place like they always are when facing a strong opponentย
Matsukawa sends you a small smile behind the water bottle he is so desperately chugging and you have to refrain from pulling him into a hugย
The third set makes you break out into a sweat, itโs a close one that goes into the thirties and you can barely keep up
At long last Seijoh has the upper hand and you watch as Oikawa sets the ball, deep down you know heโs going to send it to Iwaizumi but, much to your surprise he sends it to their double edge sword
You watch with worried eyes and drop your clipboard in shock when Kyoutani scores the last point to end the rally, the relief and excitement washes over you and you freezeย
You canโt control the way you run up to him and engulf him in a hug โKyoutani!!!โ
Itโs even more surprising when the second year wraps his arms back around you, behind you Oikawa is laughing and pointing at mad dogโs red face, he only laughs for so long before he becomes just as red when his best friend slaps the back of his head
Then you let go of him to run to Oikawa and Iwaizumi, who stare at you like youโve grown two heads
โWe havenโt even won the tournament yet (Y/N)โ Iwaizumi mutters but you only hold them tighter
โNot yetโ >:-) You make your rounds to everybody after you clean up the court and talk to the coach about their next match tomorrow. No doubt they will be playing Shiratorizawa
Eventually you end up meeting your boyfriend out in the hallway like you always do after a game, itโs always been a tradition that Matsukawa receives all your love lastโฆ you practically tackle him and wrap your arms around his neck while all the stress you faced leaves your body~
โDid you think we were going to lose?โ He jokes and gently blows into your ear, you shake your head and tighten the grip you have on him
โNo, of course not, but I was still worried,โ You tell him and lean into his chest, savoring the way he rubs your back. โIโm always worried.โ A large pout takes up your face and Matsukawa is quick to kiss it off, not before he rolls his eyes. You can feel his heart beating against your chest, he hasnโt calmed down either it seems โจ
โWho are we playing tomorrow,โ Your boyfriend darts his eyes to the floor behind you, he already knows the answer. It pains you to see his confidence faltering due to the other powerhouse schoolย
โDoes it matter? Youโre going to beat them no matter what!โ You tell him, determination all over his face. You say it with so much confidence that Matsukawa believes your words, he swoops in for another kiss
The next morning is a quiet one, Seijoh is focused and serious as they stretch and warm up. You all show up a few minutes before Shiratorizawa,
You dauntlessly stare as the team decked out in maroon walks past you and your irritated eyes fall on the the tall redhead who sends you a smirk and a wink
Hell yeah you got beef with Tendou, heโs bold as hell and loves to rile people up and itโs fun bc you knowโฆ middle blocker and your bf is a middle blockerโฆ theyโre rivals and I just wanted to add in some spice because having multiple hotties flirt with you is funโ
When Oikawa and Ushiwaka shake hands, the setter sneers and taunts the clueless ace. Miracle boy doesnโt pick up on it
Much to your disappointment, Shiratorizawa wins the first set however it is not by a lot. The score finalizes as 23-25
It was close and Seijoh was keeping up with Ushiwaka, and his spikes and serves. Watari was having no issues with the receives but a handful of balls got past Matsukawa and Kindaichiย
The second and third sets were taken by Seijoh, in truth youโre not sure how it happened. It had to do with Oikawaโs precise serves and amazing game sense that he was able to give the best balls to the spikers. Along with Kindaichi/Matsukawa blocking a handful of balss, scoring easy points
Shiratorizawa took the fourth set, one that had you fuming. A few errors that shouldnโt have been made and an incorrect call that nearly gave you a heart attack but you managed to calm yourself down as you received a warm smile from Matsukawa, one that he gives you right before he playfully and very subtly flicks you off
During the final set, you were sure you werenโt going to survive it. There was too much stress and your mouth was open in shock the entire time, you could barely keep up with the ball. With Seijoh having the upper hand your hope was at an all-time highย
There are some plays you know that are going to get through and some that you know wonโt, as you watch Oikawa set the ball you know itโs going to work. The concentration on his face and the determination on Iwaizumiโs solidified that prediction, the power duo would win this point and this set
Even after the ball hits the floor, you have to double-check to make sure it hit Shiratorizawaโs side. It ended up hitting off Ushiwakaโs block and falling loudly onto the ground
Your mouth drops out in shock and you can only stare at your players as the revelation washes over you, a handful of thoughts race through your mindย
Seijoh beat Shiratorizawa, they broke the decade-long hold they had on Miyagi. Oikawa and Iwaizumi finally got the last word over Ushijima, Oikawa gets to go to Nationals.ย
Oikawa grabs his best friend in a tight hug and you can see the tears streaming down his face, how he cries happily into his friendโs neck. Iwaizumi doesnโt say much but he continues to rub circles into his best friendโs back while tears silently fall down his cheeks.ย
For once you run straight to your boyfriend, straight into his arms as you tell him how proud you are of him,,,,,, you bring Hanamaki into the hug too because you canโt leave him out!!ย
You feel so much relief and the heavy weight lifts off your shoulders, your team gets to go to nationals, all of the third yearโs dreams came trueย
After over two years, more than that for Oikawa and Iwaizumi, Seijoh finally beat Ushiwaka and friends. The reputation your team had just got that much better
Of course, there was a celebratory dinner at the ramen shop, the one Oikawa boasted about and swore thatโs where they would eat after they won. The victory made it taste so much better,ย
I feel like I should make a Matsukawa smut right hereโฆโฆ. You know he wins the tournament you wanna give him the Glock Glock nasty 13000
The preparation for nationals was a busy one, despite the weeks in-between, you were swarmed with practice and organizing with the coach as you try to help out as much as you can ย
It physically warmed you up to see the team and your friendsโ excitement, their eyes say much more than they ever could
Nothing made you prouder than seeing Seijoh, and its players youโve known for years, standing in the large Tokyo gym. Your eyes run over all the various teams before they land back on your own, the bold colors stand out amongst the rest. The brightest of them allย
Hmm let me add some random fun things that should have happened when Seijoh went to Nationals, thatโs where Oikawa and Kuroo meetโฆ. They become instant best friends thus making the Bokuto-Kuroo-Oikawa trio that we all deserve
Oikawa and Atsumu had a โwhoโs a bigger bitchโ contest and Oikawa won by a landslideโฆ. Atsumu ran to Osamu crying heheh jk~ Kita and Hanamaki would be friends, I feel like they would get along. OSAMU AND YAHABA would also get along,,, me finksย
Let me name some pairs that I think would be friends, off the top of my headโฆ.. Kenma and Matsukawa, Bokuto and Iwaizumi, Kindaichi and Inuoka, Oikawa and Yaku, okay this one is a stretch but think of it like opposites attract okay I am a sucker for that Hoshiumi and Kunimi, Watari and either Bokuto or Inuoka you know how aries are with geminis/sagittarius, Kyoutani and Daishou HAHAHAH
