I didn’t watch the Golden Globes, but I heard about Peter Farrelly’s speech that basically said “personal relationships” and “listening to each other” were cures for racism.

That view is not only overly simplistic and ahistorical, but it aggressively ignores the structural racism that is baked into our criminal justice, banking, educational, governmental, and housing institutions. Worse, it puts the responsibility to end racism equally on black people. And it assumes that Black people—the victims of racism—we also have some “listening” to do. Really? Are we supposed to listen to our oppressor’s excuses for another 500 years?

Heard some important information on Twitter today, and thought I’d post it here for anyone who may not have heard it. This is actually a thing, devised by a human rights organisation called Karma Nirvana.
