When I watched obsession, I noticed something interesting in the dinner scene. When the two are seated, theres a shot framing them against the stained glass panes. All of them are yellow except for the green one around Bears head. Later, when Bear is on the phone, we see that the back wall has two green panels. Initially, I thought that this was signifying agency. At the table, next to Bear, the curse activates, and Freaky Nikki is in control, but when Bear isn’t around, the real Nikki can gain back some control, meaning that it was the real Nikki who got up and looked around. However, the more I thought about it, the less sense it made, since Nikki standing up definitely seemed to be intended as more creepy/possessive. Color symbolism is an interesting route to go with this: yellow for joy/contentment and green for jealousy. At the table, Freaky Nikki is content to just be around Bear, but Bear is freaked out by her behavior, wishing she would just be normal. When he leaves, she becomes impatient, stepping into the framing that suggests two unhappy souls. From a shot-design perspective, thats why she stands up during the confrontation - so that shes framed in front of the two green panes. This could also literally just all be coincidence considering the budget probably restricted them heavily, hence why they filmed in an actual restaurant instead of on a set, but I just thought it was interesting :) + wouldn’t be surprised if it was intentional on Curry Barker’s part, given the level of quality in every other aspect of the movie
Reblogging with example pics since we seem to be visual learners. Also, sorry if someone else has already commented on this lol
I should also note that after looking through this scene again, the two green panes are visible when shes seated, not just standing up. So do with that what you will
