No you're so right about the random ass regression in the 11 min era. I don't mean the writing, I think those seasons were really good (yk minus s15 but), but it does have a noticeable switch in its racism. In earlier seasons, while there was a lot of barely passable racist caricatures (Chen, Nadakhan) and a bunch of incorrect uses of Asian cultural elements, they came from a place of admiration (and it came out in the early 2010s, when a lot of Asian stuff was trending in the West but conversations abt cultural appropriation vs appreciation weren't mainstream yet).
But this sort of "western culture better" theme became an oddly common thing in the 11 min era. The ninja saving the indigenous inspired people from the never realm after they couldn't do so themselves for decades (at least sort of understandable because Zane was a sort of anomaly), the ninja saving the munce and geckle from slavery (and it being very loud about them needing help because their races are inherently dumb? yikes). Then the island special gave me all sorts of bad vibes. Making the islanders purple did not mask the fact that they did the "indigenous sacrificial ritual" stereotype. I think dragons rising has done a lot to improve this issue, thank god
