i can’t think of a good caption for this drawing for some reason, but anyway! this is a drawing based on this japanese commercial for kirby and the amazing mirror, and also a redraw of an old drawing from 2011:

Nine months in the making. Here it is! Here is my celebratory “new Kirby game release” illustration for Kirby Star Allies, and boy, what a big one! I feel like I say this every time, but this has to be one of the most detailed Kirby pictures I’ve made to date.

And I don’t say that willy-nilly! The size of this picture actually started off twice as big as the final version, but ended up being too big for my art programs to handle. This time I really focused on details I wouldn’t normally have done in the past, like stitching and other textures. I also tried a new way of rendering to accentuate the colors and make things pop more. Gone are some of my typical conventions like colored lines and white, sticker-like outlines in favor of more striking lineart. Characters are shinier, bolder, and louder if I say so myself.

As usual, I also made a process video for it! It’s a big’un!

You might’ve noticed a little teaser at the end of the video. Just as Kirby Star Allies has had updates added over time, I think it’d be cool to parallel that with this illustration. Don’t think you’ve seen the last of this picture yet…

it’s about time i made a drawing to celebrate this occasion, right? at least i actually finished it during the anniversary year itself this time! (*cough*unlikepokémon*cough*)

BUT ANYWAY, i’ve finally finished this!! i technically started it back in august… but i took a lot of long breaks while working on it, haha. this is probably the most detailed drawing i’ve ever done! sure, some parts of it look a bit wonky, but i’m not used to drawing things this complicated!
