For some characters, like Jax, it's a catastrophe. Because he's stuck in the mental state he had on the worst day of his life. I genuinely think he couldn't escape the anxiety, the fight or flight response. Could he have learned to deal with it? Yes, certainly. But found true peace? I'm not sure. It's like chronic pain: you can live in spite of it, but you can't make it disappear.

Emotions choose. Reason justify.

I understand so much about myself and about others thanks to it. Each time I apply it to a situation it's like I re-discover the meaning. I use it when doing introspection, because it helps me aknowledge how I feel and what my coping mecanisms are. I use it when I help other people, because it helps them connect to their own humanity. I use it when I look at the world and wonder "how did we end up doing that as a society?" I use it when someone pretends to be this cold and rationnal philosopher who only believe in reason - because if you think reason is its own thing, if you think reason is objectif, oh boy do you not understand the human mind. I use it when people try to manipulate me, because it reminds me that you can justify anything with reason if you're creative enough. I use it all the time and it has never let me down.
