his brother's voice, chirps from behind him. "looking for venus again?" he teases. "girl made of sea foam," craig chuckles. his lips sucking on the near empty rum bottle.

"shut up," pope grunts. the night is coming. he knows that means you're nearby. you only visit him when the sun's come down and the ocean's stopped singing.

as the sun fades, his family retreats to their cabins, but pope stays above deck. he's eager to see you tonight. you're enchanting. if there's any other word for you, his tongue can't find it. you captivate him.

the moon is shining, and there comes the first splash in the water. pope's stomach tightens. you've announced yourself to him.

you swim up to the bannister, face soaked, and gleaming in the darkness of dusk. "hi, andrew," you smile. your teeth, a thousand polished pearls. your voice, a blurred song to his ears. you're a god amongst men, he feels unworthy talking to you.

venus from the heavens, chose him, a sinner man.

"hi," he chokes out. his tongue stuck in his throat.

"you're so far away andrew," you croon. "why don't you come closer?"

you're gorgeous. he doesn't deserve you.

"i can't" he utters.

your tail flicks in the water. pope's eyes are drawn to it, immediately. "why not andrew?"

"i'm not worthy of you," he turns his face away. it's almost as if he's ashamed of himself.

"isn't that up for me to decide andrew?" you push more of yourself out the water. your chest, now exposed, to the cold air of the atmosphere. he attempts to look away, but he can't. you're enchanting. it's almost like he can't fight off the lust you put into the air.

"maybe," he whispers. pope's eyes glued to the beauty of your hardened nipples.

you laugh, it sends ripples through the water. the ships rocks. it sends a shiver down pope's spine. "don't be ridiculous," you cue. your fingers twirl in the water, a small whirlpool, forming in your hands. "what's it gonna take for you to come take a swim with me?"

your eyes shift over. once sweet, nonthreatening, now submerged with an eerie look.

"don't know yet," pope mutters as one foot, begins to pull himself over the banister, seems the young pirate is ready for his night swim.
