Frillville

As I’m heading north with my giant horse Ganondorf, (I had boarded poor Daphnes after the shrine escapades) and I’m charging into a pack of horse riding bokoblins I notice something familiar in the corner of my eye. The great red dragon Dinraal is gliding gently through the nearby canyon. I’m more familiar with Farosh by now as he’s the one I run into most often, and was the one I encountered first while crossing over Lake Floria, but I find myself catching the red beast in the distance quite often. It leads me to think, even as I’m tearing down these moblins and liberating their horses, about the origin of these creatures. I’m aware from my climb of Mt. Lanayru that they are something of Spring Spirit Guardians, but that still leaves so many questions. Why do they fly about where everyone can see? How are they protecting the Springs if they are always on the move? But above all I wonder how long they’ve been in Hyrule, how sentient they are, and why we have to strike these beautiful creatures in order to activate the Springs... surely Hylia could have found a gentler way... why didn’t she?

The ability of some shrines to keep out of my sight when I should be able to see it clearly is nothing but frustrating. But just like with the Eight Heroine statue, I will go up and down and all right as many times as it takes to make the beeping stop.

I’ve named them Ganondorf and Daphnes. It’s hard to choose my favourite, so I often switch between the two. The giant horse and the royal horse... neither disappoints. Ganondorf has his massive stature, and endless stamina. I get much further much faster on him, so I tend to use him for long distances. Daphnes, however, is regal and precious. I take him for short jaunts, mostly, but occasionally a longer ride to stretch his muscles. I wouldn’t have him suffer the harsher terrains that Ganondorf handles... but this is better, I think . It gives me a reason to spend time with both my treasured horses. However, I still feel like something is missing... yes... how could I go this long without Epona? It’s a hole in my heart that even Ganondorf and Daphnes can’t fill. I will keep room for her in my registry.

I’m searching through the Gerudo Plateau with a bit of frustration as I look for the Eight Heroine. It seems as though she’s hiding nearby, because I’m standing before a massive sword akin to the ones held by the other Seven. It’s been an up and down climb for hours it seems when I pull out my map- and there it is. The image of what I’d been searching for. The Sheikah Stone is truly a blessing. As I run over to her and admire her massive stature I’m left to wonder- the sword was quite far... and up higher on the plateau where the snow was falling. How did it get there? What separated the Heroine with her weapon? I of course take her picture and continue on my way, but the statue gave me only more questions. I hope to find out more about this woman carved in the rocks.
