it's kind of crazy that no one gives a fuck about claudia. except for when they're using her to absolve their own guilt or benefit their personal objectives. it was pointless and disturbingly out of character for louis to read claudia's private, and deeply personal pages to bruce, who absolutely does not give a fuck about her. and overlaying said reading with lestat's turning in an attempt to show a parallel between them—and therefore making the viewer sympathize with lestat, who was the real focus it seems—was once again taking the importance and spotlight away from claudia. even in death her autonomy is taken and she's being used as nothing more than a piece of everyone else's story. everyone wants to control claudia's narrative. she's never just claudia. in life or death.

It’s hilarious to me that so much of the TVL promo has been like “What if Lestat was the coolest guy in the world?” And then this new teaser is like “I mean, he’s not. But could you imagine?”

trying to put a finger on it but the insinuation that lestat is deeply bothered by claudia lying about him threatening her with rape (which I already find to be a v distasteful plotline) and the show making a comparitive layering of the scenes of assault they experience doesn’t particularly sit right with me because it homogenises the state of Being Raped and ignores the material conditions which facilitate it. the choice also a) fails to account for how claudia’s sexual abuse is directly facilitated by his own failures as a father which drive her away from her home b) ignores the nature of the incestuous environment he brokers in their household, the disregard he has for maintaining parental boundaries, and his active violations of those boundaries when he chooses to begin her vampiric and sexual instruction side by side at lovers’ lane - later going on to further demolish those boundaries by offering to have sex with her and assessing her body in a sexual light. I’m not impressed!

unfortunately re: the serving cunt line you can just tell the writers have become too cognizant of fandom. i do not want diegetic references to lestat popping his pussy any more than i want armand playing minecraft or saying he's too wife to be cancelled for abuse. like i get that this is yet another thing to seize and emphasize how absurd lestat can be and it does track with his propensity to update his vocabulary but you need to remember that this is a 268-year-old vampire from the french colonial empire whose achilles heel has always been literacy and who spent the second half of the twentieth century to the early 2020s in self-imposed, haggard exile. he's not deep in the trenches on tumblr or stan twitter he's getting duped by ai reels of anthropomorphized dogs on youtube
