Frick Yeah, Jarrich!

well, at least they went on an (unplanned?) world tour together?

Okay okay okay, the reason I love that jarrich moment at the end of the episode so much is that it (hopefully) marks a return to what initially drew me to the jarrich relationship: namely, that it involves Richard stepping out of his self-absorption in a very concrete way and further shows him taking active steps to making Jared feel happy and valued. In this episode, it doesn’t seem like Richard is trying to reconcile with Jared just to stroke his own ego or to have all that adulation redirected toward himself again—I think he offered gwart and Jared the office space because he genuinely values Jared’s happiness. The other reason I liked this scene so much more than those of recent episodes is that Richard chose to reach out to Jared at a high point of happiness and not just at a time when he is seeking comfort to pull him out from one of his lows. It’s something we haven’t really seen Richard do consistently since the early seasons, and if this is in fact a marker of a return to that early kindness that I love so much, I will be a happy fan indeed!
