Everytime Vox killed in his past he completly copied his victims behaviour, talent and even their style. And while he sabotaged some of them, he also manipulated the others to trust him. He pretended to admire them or help them out only to betray and murder them.

And we as the fandom lots of time pointed out how similar Vox behaved and dressed as Alastor:

So my guess is knowing how Vox behaved in life that Alastor might have been his perfect victim type. He already started to take on his style but unlike his other victims Alastor didnt fall for his tricks and saw right through him and he couldnt even hurt him.

Because of these he was never able to get over his obsession and switch to a new person.

I am not saying that in a first time ever Vox didnt genuinely wanted to be partners with Alastor or saw him as his equal but I also think his messed up serial killer brain might also has something to do with wanting to be with Alastor.

I fucking hate everything. Assuming this takes place that episode right before the song ends, the fact Vox’s mindfuckery was mixed in with all the horrible shit Valentino put him through- the fact even in S1E4 this was happening-

And given the amount of shit Valentino just put him through, of course he wouldn’t notice. He hurts everywhere. He’s been dissociating the whole day. Any residual effects of having his mind fucked with probably would be lumped in with all of that. Angel is surely going to hate himself for being so weak that he couldn’t resist this (and now I’m thinking of his reaction to Pentious trying to hypnotize him in S1E2 because he was so quick to shake it off, and I wonder if that’s because of exposure, (or if it’s going to haunt him after all this is done because he remembers from that that he COULD resist, so the fact he couldn’t here may kill him.))

Vox waiting sometimes until Angel is at his most vulnerable and DEFINITELY can’t fight things off makes so much sense and it’s just so horrible.
