Whole Team; S/O Who Under Eats
Author's Note: this was originally a request a long time ago... again, this is a rewrite!
Warnings: None | Pronouns: Neutral
**This is not implied as disordered eating, but rather a neutral matter of forgetting or just being busy!**
Scout doesn't notice at first. Instead he'll figure it out by asking you if you want to grab food with him, and if you answer with something like, "I already ate... this morning," He'll stop walking... "It's seven..."
Once he realises it's a pattern, he becomes surprisingly attentive. Scout starts carrying snacks everywhere, not because he's naturally organised, but because he's worried.
He carries things like granola bars, bags of chips, fruit snacks, candy, anything little that he knows you like that's easy to shove into your hands.
Scout isn't overbearing though. He keeps it light so you don't feel guilty. If you're busy instead, he'll literally slide food across the table without interrupting you. "Just eat something, alright? You get all quiet when you don't."
Soldier interprets food as fuel. Not eating enough is completely unacceptable in his mind. You'll probably hear something like, "YOU CANNOT DEFEAT THE ENEMY ON AN EMPTY STOMACH!"
He responds with military precision. Breakfast at 0700. Lunch at 1200. Dinner at 1800. And he'll loudly announce mealtimes throughout the base too.
If you insist you're not hungry, Soldier will say, "That is irrelevant!" Then he hands you a sandwich...
His methods are ridiculous, but the concern underneath is genuine. He will do his utmost to make sure his beloved is eating enough.
Pyro notices before anyone else. They pay close attention to routines, and yours is no exception.
If they realise you've skipped meals, they quietly start leaving food near wherever you're working. Things like, fresh fruit, warm soup, a little homemade treat of their own.
They secretely linger in hopes you eat it, and if you do, Pyro lights up with happiness.
If you don't, they gently nudge the plate toward you again before making questioning noises. Although there's no pressure, only concern. And if it helps, Pyro will sit beside you and eat too, hoping you'll unconsciously join them.
Demo recognises the signs because he's neglected himself plenty of times. But that doesn't mean you should.
If you get shaky, dizzy, or unusually quiet, he immediately asks, "When's the last time ye ate?" And if your answer makes him wince, he says, "Right. Kitchen. Now."
Demo is a believer in hearty comfort food. Things like stews, roast dinners, fresh bread. Anything filling really. He's willing to make whatever you want, so long as you eat something.
While you eat, he'll distract you with stories so you don't feel self-conscious. He never scolds you for it, he's just gets a little disappointed that you've been taking care of everyone else except yourself.
Heavy notices almost immediately. He grew up understanding what hunger feels like, but frankly, Heavy hates seeing someone go hungry regardless.
He recognises the tiny signs. The way your energy drops. Your hands are much colder. You're struggling to concentrate. The irritability you don't even notice...
He simply asks, "Little one... have you eaten today?" And if you shrug, he sighs softly. "No wonder." And within twenty minutes there's a proper meal sitting in front of you.
He doesn't hover while you eat. Instead, he simply sits nearby until you're finished. And if you apologise, Heavy looks genuinely confused and he'll answer with, "For feeding person I love?"
Engineer treats it like solving an engineering problem. He approaches you in a way you might even be a little confused by. As he notices the signs, he'll say something like, "Alright... so what's happenin'?"
If you answer and say you're too busy, forgetting, or have no appetite, Engineer helps you work around the issue instead of telling you to "just remember."
He starts keeping food in the workshop, sets reminders if need be, or makes easy meals in advance if that helps. He'd probably invent some goofy little alarm that plays country music when it's lunchtime.
If he finds you deep into work, he'll casually say, "Take five." Then set a sandwich beside you. There's no fuss or guilt, just quiet support from Engie.
Medic notices immediately because... well... he's Medic. He immediately connects your headaches, fatigue, dizziness, and poor concentration. Even if you've only mentioned it a handful of times.
He says to you, "You have consumed... what today?" And if you tell him, "Just coffee." Or just shrug and say, "Nothing." Cue the longest sigh you've ever heard.
He absolutely gives you a lecture. Not angry one, but rather, an educational one. He tells you your brain requires glucose. Your muscles require energy. Your immune system suffers. He explains everything.
But then he immediately cooks you something. He's also secretely pleased everytime he catches you eating without being reminded, although he pretends he isn't.
Sniper is more subtle. He notices because you're slower than usual, or maybe your hands shake, or you're less focused. Nonetheless, he's concerned.
He quietly asks, without making anything too obvious, "Had lunch?" And if you admit you forgot, he just nods, but then five minutes later there's food sitting beside you.
There's never a speech or lecture. Instead, he carries small snacks on him, or even keeps more snacks in his van for you, and will slide one your way if he notices you look a little fatigued.
If you still don't eat, he pushes it closer with a quiet, "C'mon... Please." That quiet "please" carries far more weight than yelling or scolding ever could.
Spy notices because he notices everything. He sees the way your posture changes, your hands shaking slightly, the fact that you're rubbing your temples...
He doesn't call it out publically. Instead, he asks, "My dear, would you accompany me for lunch?" It's never framed as "because you're fogetting." It's simply something you're doing together.
If you claim you're not hungry, Spy will say, "I wasn't asking because I thought you were. I was asking because I know you." And that answer might take you by surprise.
At home, he'll casually stock the pantry with your favourite foods. You'll notice your preferred snacks mysteriously appearing before you run out. But Spy will never admit he keeps track.
