Some translation differences in Caleb's Imperial Thronesong card! I'm only going to translate the starred lines, otherwise this post will be too long.
In general, Caleb says gege and meimei a lot more in Chinese. And I'm sure most of you know by now, but if you don't: gege = older brother, meimei = younger sister. I'm sticking to the Chinese terms for my translations to avoid making some sentences sound stilted/awkward.

Caleb: "I missed you a little, meimei."
He's more sarcastic in Chinese.
Caleb: After all, the gege who has always played this kind of "sibling game" with you since you were small... You can only find that in me.
The phrase å 妹 (xiongmei) in å 妹ęøøę (xiongmei youxi) from "sibling game" means older brother and younger sister. It's strictly familial. He's undermining her threat to shoot him by calling it a silly little kids' game.
Caleb: For the next few days, just relax and catch up with Gege.
Caleb: No "buts". Don't you trust Gege?
Caleb: That's true. No wonder some people say that a meimei is a gege's little cotton-padded jacket.
Little cotton-padded jacket (å°ę£č¢ xiao mian'ao) is an affectionate metaphor that parents use for their daughters. Calling someone that means she's a good daughter who's caring and considerate like a warm coat. Caleb reframing it in a gege-meimei context may imply that he's been a parental figure for her on top of being her older brother. Or that's just how he sees himself because he wants to be her everything.
This isn't the first time Caleb and MC reuse a parent-child saying for their relationship. In the idol event's game, he mentioned that MC used to sing a famous nursery rhyme for mothers äøäøåŖęå¦å¦å„½ (Only Mum Is Good in the World) and switched out the "mama" with "gege". Caleb: Meimei, someone who truly wants to kill their enemy would never look at them in the eye and speak the way you do.
This is the same, but the additional "meimei" in the beginning and the delivery tone make him sound patronising.
MC: Forget it, I'm not in the mood to play this sibling game with you. (Same phrase as the one above)
Caleb: You don't want to play with me, but you would play with another man?
Before this, they'd been arguing because MC assumed Caleb had sabotaged their joint mission, which he responded with "I'm your gege. Don't always assume the worst of me." It makes sense that she gets tired of him pulling the gege status on her at this heightened moment.
On the other hand, Caleb is jealous. The phrase "xiongmei youxi" for "sibling game" is supposed to feel innocent. Him rephrasing it in a sexual context adds a layer of twistedness that's absent in English. (Not everyone describes the gege-meimei play time as sex time Caleb...)
Caleb: You can't let him go?
These more intense verbs he uses to confront her about the other guy in her room shows how bothered he is.
Caleb: It seems that Meimei has been living very comfortably during this "recovery" period.
Caleb: Isn't it my turn now [to play with you]?
Caleb: Meimei, I know why you wanted to make me do this with you in the first place.
Caleb: You're used to having everything, so you're even more unwilling to accept...
Caleb: That I'm clearly not an object you can just control or forcibly possess for yourself.
He makes her out to be someone more forceful and spoiled than the English counterpart.
Caleb: You are mine, Meimei... We've always belonged to each other.
Caleb: The cosmos in its entirety can't even compare to this kiss we're sharing right now.

People who main Caleb (the guy who grew up in the same house as you, who never knows if he should introduce you as āsisterā or āgirlfriendā, who calls your parents mom and dad āby accidentā, who calls himself gege 10 times per memory, who sings about how he loves someone he isnāt allowed to love) but are surprised theyāre siblings in the new card are a new level of hilarious. What do you mean you didnāt know????
Alright, I've played the card, and I might get killed for this, but I don't have any issues with it. This card is just Caleb and Mc's main story but in a Space Empire au. I hate to tell you this, but if you didn't like Caleb in this card, then you don't like all of Caleb, specifically the side of him that comes out when playing colonel. You only like the part of him that is soft for mc. Caleb's a work driven military man who's not right in the head, and that goes for both the main story and this au.
Now to address the elephant in the room, the incest. It didn't bother me, I can understand why it bothered others but the thing is Caleb and MC's relationship is inherently incestuous. They grew up together and were bonded as siblings for a long time. Its a little weird since their upbringing wasn't normal, especially on Caleb's end. But incestuous themes have always been around Caleb, and if you don't believe that, you need to go and take a look at his original introduction (pre-explosion) and his old days cards a lil closer. Yes the eng localisation has fucked up in calling him a childhood friend, their relationship does not fit that label. Zayne is the long lost childhood friend trope. There has always been an incestuous vibe with Caleb, and idk how some people haven't picked that up.
As for the full-blooded aspect, after reading the card, I purely feel they took that angle because its an empire au. They're royals in an empire, and incest pops up quite a bit in those in both history and fiction. It also adds more to the forbidden love trope that has always been in their dynamic. Caleb and Mc want each other, but it is bound to end in tradegy. Even in the good end for the card, it states that peace and tranquillity are only temporary, and they will face more obstacles in the future. Also as someone who's into history and otome games this isn't my first rodeo with incest so I wasn't fazed but again I feel like if you hate incest tropes then you're not gonna enjoy Caleb's storyline.
Now, another thing that may have bothered people is Caleb and Mc were very handsy with each other. And I think that's because of one reason. Mc makes the first move and kisses caleb, telling him she wants him to "satisfy" her before he goes off to the federation's military school. If this happened in the main storyline, it would basically be if she proposed a sexual relationship before he went off to the DAA. In most of Caleb's cards, mc does not take the initiative, for example, in the cave in his midsummer with you card. Caleb flirts, but when mc covers herself, he doesn't make a move or cross that boundary. The fandom literally have an inside joke about this, with many caleb mains claiming they'd be much weaker and would be on him in seconds. However, in this au, they've already been in a sexual relationship for years (I'm estimating about five), so it makes sense that they're less hesitant.
And the rug thing. Yeah, that's just caleb. This man comes just below Xavier in terms of jealousy. Some guy came into what he sees as his girl's private bedroom and was implied to be on or doing something with her bed when he found him. Mc is also jealous in this card, claiming that caleb is hers and that isn't anything new either, we've seen it in no return night and even more so in stage observer.
I actually thought they developed Caleb and Mc's storyline into this au quite well. It reflects the themes of their main storyline quite well, and nothing caught me off guard. That being said, if your reaction to caleb and mc calling each brother and sister is š¤® and it ruins your enjoyment, don't pull for this card and don't play it. It's an au you're not missing out on any main story developments. Maybe just some possible foreshadowing.
