“it is smart, yes. but sometimes, the events are quite dangerous.”   she would vaguely think back to the zombie event, where familiar faces that were long gone rose from the dead and wandered around. at the torn face of her once best friend, which prompted many nightmares to come. yes, they were quite dangerous.   “it would do well not to be in the center of the mess at your stage.”

“a consistency, huh? well, i guess major holidays would normally have an event. but sometimes, they’re rather random. in all, just keep an eye or ear out for anything odd in any of the wards.”

“Okay. I’ll keep that in mind, too.” Danger is something he’s been through before, of course -- but naturally, he would be better off to be careful. So, stick with others, so long as he could? Maybe? “I don’t want to get too badly hurt, after all.”

He laughs a bit nervously. It’s happened before. Plenty of times. But that was also there.

“--Major holidays, huh? And they can also just... spring up at random. Huh. I’ll do that.” Another mental note -- Maybe he’ll get his flight back!

‘You can make one?!’ Link’s eyes shone with pure excitement at that, the idea of someone being able to make one of these things being completely new and novel to him. ‘That is so cool!!’

He grabbed his phone out of his pocket and held it up to Tails, waiting with anticipation. All he knew about the type of phone he had was that it had a screen you could touch to make do things, but Tails could figure it out (probably).

“Yeah! There aren’t that many components to them, they’re pretty streamlined.”

He takes the phone, touching briefly and looking through it. “Oh! Okay. This model’s a pretty easy one.” He began to explain where to download which applications, how to search for them, what settings were available, and some basic functions of the phone.

SO MANY QUESTIONS. which was good, don’t get her wrong. it was better to understand things first before finding out in a bad situation. she actually wished she had someone to do the same when she first arrived ( well, there was ar-15 but she helped her find food, not understand her situation ).

now, on the matter of regaining abilities, she’d pause in thought. ❝  random would be the correct term but i’ve found out a few things during my stay. the first way would be to wait. the longer you’re here, the more likely you’d regain something. another … you’d experience it sooner or later but this place has some odd ongoings. once it ends, you’re rewarded with something, whether it be a weapon or an ability you’ve lost.  ❞

“I see. So it’s smart to participate in these sorts of... events that happen, then?” He makes a mental note about being patient to regain his powers as well -- either way, that was probably for the best. 

This was very informative -- the girl must’ve been here long enough to find out about these things. If anyone asked him about this place as a newcomer, he’d make a vow to tell them what he’d learned.

  Perhaps it was because of his own circumstances in life that he was able to sympathize with certain kinds of children around his age or just a bit younger than him. Even if he wouldn’t be able to guess the small fox’s age, it was easy to figure out he was not older than twelve ( even if some foxes could be quite deceiving ). But Tasuku’s intuition told him that this child was not the deceiving kind.

   Kneeling down, Tasuku spoke with the softest voice he could muster, trying his best to not startle the young fox. It was best to be as non-threatening as possible with children ( he knew this from more than just experience ).

       “Hey there,” A kind and warm smile. “I’m Tasuku, I’m here to help you. Could you tell me what happened?”

Great. It was just like him to end up in this sort of trouble without Sonic’s help. At least he wasn’t captured -- or worse.

Still, though. He’d been bruised more than a few times over in trying to fight off the bullies he’d been facing. Given no thanks, but a smile -- he could understand and appreciate such a gesture still. Wincing as he looked at the blue haired -- human? He held his arm where an injury was, laughing a bit -- anxious laughter.

“Ah, hi.” Gentler, sure, but this Tasuku reminded him a bit of Sonic, ready to assist his friends and wanting to know what had gotten them into this predicament... or perhaps he was simply projecting that onto him, as the expression on his face certainly made him think of the blue blur he looked up to and cared for so much.

   Being in a hurry was never something that ended well for a certain young doctor, especially thanks to being quite the klutz. As someone who even tripped over his own feet more than he dare admit, he wasn’t exactly careful this time, either. In fact, thanks to being in a rush, Kakeru rounded the corner in a haste - only to slip and fall right then.

    Luckily, he just barely missed a small certain fox that had been minding his own business up until now.

        “Oh, deary me… seems like I slipped again.” And then, “Oh! You’re not hurt, are you? If you are, I’m terribly sorry! It’s a lot more slippery than I expected…”

Oops -- someone... fell. Was he okay? It looked like... he might’ve hurt himself.

However, the green-haired -- human? Was he human? As far as Tails could tell, anyway, he probably was. In any case, he seemed to recover quite quickly, so he decided not to worry too much.

“I’m alright. Are you?” Though, perhaps this person was a bit clumsy. He did say ‘again’, after all.

‘You can show me?’ Link’s eyes lit up- he always liked learning more! It’d been a while since he’d even really asked anyone for help, not since around when he’d shown up. 

‘Do you know how they work? There aren’t phones where I’m from. It’s really confusing how much stuff there is. I don’t use much but the text one. Some are fun though.’

“Yeah, I do! I’ve made my own before.” He looks... very proud.

‘I… I don’t think I get it. Phones are confusing. Is this what really happens?’

He understood that movies were made-up, but some of them were real too! So wasn’t it possible that it could be real? How were you supposed to know what was real, and what wasn’t? All of this ‘technology’ stuff just went over Link’s head.

‘The game looks interesting though.’

“No, this isn’t what really happens. They can’t get in the games.”

Tails pouts at first, but after a moment of thinking, he breaks into a smile, tails slightly wagging.

He’s not familiar with all of the games on the screen -- but some at least, he can recognize. After all, Tails has been using technology a long time.

Though, they looked a little different from the ones he’d seen before.

                       ❝ I’m sure you’ve noticed, but we all have items and abilities taken from us when we arrive in this city. Before I had mine stolen from me, let’s just say one of my powers was to see and visit different dimensions. I’ve only ever seen you and your friends’ heroics against Dr. Eggman though, worry not! ❞

A nod. The man is... odd. That’s the least of it, he’ll guess.  “So you’ve seen... all of that? How far does it go back? Of course I bet you know all about Sonic, since he’s always been super important, but...” 

He can’t help but be a little curious -- “I mean, I know there are also other ‘me’s, so it’s not entirely illogical that someone could see the things I’ve done through another dimension... although, it’s definitely really strange.”

Tails says that last bit with a distant yet serious expression.

she had transformed to feel less vulnerable, but had found her attracting company instead. Fortune sunk down to eye level, giving a smile at…the fox? hm. must be a fairy of sorts, she assumed.

(she was never one for video games.)

『 hello. I like your hair, as well. 』fur, probably, but it’d be awkward to correct herself now. 『 I’m Cure Fortune. what’s your name? 』

Hair? She probably meant his fur. He nodded excitedly, looking only slightly up now -- she’d leaned over enough to be at eye level with the fox, and he really appreciated it.

WHAT AN INTELLECTUAL creature he was. a ( literal ) flying fox, who would have thought ? from what he was saying, his ability to fly was a skill. which means, she knew the answer to his question. she was lucky to have been given her wings from the start, her weapons on the other hand and the duration of her flight ; those were taken.

❝  that would be because you ability to fly was taken. or sealed away would be a better term. the moment you arrive, everything you have, your abilities are sealed away and your weapons, taken. downgraded even. in fact, when i first arrived, i could only fly for twenty minutes per day. but you can get it back, eventually.  ❞

Oh. That made sense, actually. He was seemingly able to move quickly, still -- another ability that he’d cultivated over his time with Sonic.

So in this place, most abilities were sealed -- even if these were learned abilities -- noted, noted in his brain.

    “My, you’re a small one, aren’t you.” Voice sing-song yet monotone, they crouch down to approximately the small fox’s height. There was a blankness in their expression despite the small lopsided smile ( as if it was fake ). “What’s a young thing like you doing here on their own, so late at night.”

“I guess so?” Comparatively, at least, the fox is a lot shorter than the other. They’re quite strange looking. A tension raises in his body, and but Tails tries to keep that from showing.

WELL NOW, THIS was an oddity. she’s been here for a few months now and she can’t say she’s ever met a talking animal before. well, a first for everything really. turning to the fox, she would lower her herself so that she now hovered just above the ground. how she was able to fly ? he must be new or has never seen … well, she highly doubted anyone saw a sylph before.

❝  well, i’m a sylph ; we’re meant to fly. but … i’m going to guess, that’s not the answer you’re looking for.  ❞ he could be talking about an ability or something. perhaps he could fly one way or another. ❝  could you fly ? is that why you’re asking ?  ❞

A sylph -- he’s not familiar with the term, but he supposes that makes sense. He’s not familiar with what this girl is.

“I could fly before, yeah.” He brings a hand to his chin. “But somehow, upon coming to this world or dimension or universe, I’m unsure of which, but it’s certainly not where I came from, I lost the ability to. It’s very strange. I can’t control my tails as well -- I used to be able to accelerate and fly with them, but now I can’t.”
