Everything Is Love

I love Heartstopper so so much I am so entirely grateful for finding this webcomic as a teenager when I was lonely and isolated and was overwhelmed with how many queer stories I stumbled upon relied and relayed so much agonizing tragedy and how horrifying that quietly brewed inside of my young closeted mind. Heartstopper felt like a treasure trove of warmth, comfort and realism, I felt seen in Charlie and Nick, even Tara, Darcy and Elle. I felt witnessed, I felt unabashed hope, I looked forward to the updates those three times a month and when the show was picked up, I was worried it would be tainted with tragedy, with the Hollywood lens of coloring queer stories with unnecessary tribulations. Watching how well and refreshing Heartstopper was received how big it became, it cracked me open, I am so so grateful for anything in that universe; for Alice Oseman mostly for writing such a beautiful and believe it or not incredibly REAL story. People tend to make quips about the excess fluff but I found it and still to be radical; how much media or literature do you honestly consume that handles humanity with such grace and affection? I am so grateful for Heartstopper and what it means and what it has done for so many people.
