¡Call for Entries!
We see you there, holding those divining rods and seer stones, practicing your exquisitely detailed non-method. You who “prospect for gold in an unsystematic or opportunistic fashion” (OED, ‘fossicker,’ n.), who “scan[…] an area for fragments overlooked by others” (OED, ‘fossick,’ v., 1a); you over there foraging and scanning for provisions (OED, ‘fossick,’ v., 2), not to mention gems (OED, ‘fossick,’ v., 1b); you RUMMAGERS (OED, ‘fossick,’ v., 2b). We see you and we want to know what you’ve found, or what you hope to find, or how you may or may not be going about your peculiar brand of fossicking.
To that end, «FoSSiCKeR», a new art, literary, and lifestyle magazine published twice-yearly, is looking for entries to populate its first issue. We are especially interested in found material, whether that consists of words or collections of objects photographed by you, or, alternatively, little bags of gold ore. But we are equally curious about fossicking in the abstract, as well as the weird fossickers of this world (and possibly others), and would gladly receive anything relating to this theme expressible in two dimensions.
Please send submissions, as well as any questions, to [email protected]. Entries must be submitted by July 31st, 2014 for consideration for the autumn 2014 issue.
