PHILLIPS.

"Rover-2, cut all chatter immediately, Hope-1 out." Yet another command from Phillips over radio. The Cleaner team do as told, sure to share their gripes and uneasiness off the mic.

'MOM' CHRISTINE.

She jingles merrily with each trudging step. Sagging biker-leather pouches crisscrossing her body, swinging and singing with all manner of Ridden slaying ammunition.

That's who she is now. A slayer, and, at the moment: an ammo mule.

She jingles merrily when she comes to a sudden stop. Her battle hard eyes going matriach-soft, seeing him. Not letting herself go guessing what hurt him.

PHILLIPS.

The arrival of a long awaited cache stirs new urgency and energy within the General's tent – within which hardly fits five desks and the studious, heavily armed people crowding them. Two of them immediately pull away from conversation to begin unpacking and documenting the items in the delivery. Phillips himself joins the appraisal, watching clipboards carefully for an accurate account of what's been presented.

The parasite that would become known as Devil Worm was first discovered at Pingualuit crater, Quebec, Canada. Samples of the parasite were collected and brought to a lab in Quebec City for study. Somehow, the parasite breached containment, spreading beyond Canada to the United States and then the entire world through the water supply. As the Ridden, created by the parasite outbreak, plunged civilization into chaos, the parasite itself gained the moniker "Devil Worm".

Since it spreads through water supply, it is mandatory for people to boil water before drinking to kill the parasite.

THE RIDDEN

The Ridden were normal humans who contracted the Devil Worm parasite that spread through the entire world. They possess reduced higher brain function, and attack and subsequently infect any uninfected non-immune targets around them on sight.

The Ridden mutated quickly and many disappeared underground, in cavernous hives and nests — more and more dangerous varieties crop up thanks to the mountains of poorly discarded corpses during the outbreak, which became the Ridden's prime charnel breeding grounds.

FORT HOPE — FINLEYVILLE, PA

Fort Hope is a barricaded military fort created and run by General John Phillips. The fort is nestled between the north of Evansburgh and the south of the mining town known as Finleyville and acts as the main base of operation for the Cleaners and many of PA's survivors.

THE CLEANERS

Evangelo may be the youngest and least experienced Cleaner on the team but has proven to be a quick study. Besides being good in a fight, Evangelo has established himself as a loyal and reliable member of the team. He tends to talk a lot, especially when he’s nervous, but is eager to show that he has what it takes to be a Cleaner.

Christine 'MOM' Tuttle

The only person surprised that Mom became the voice of surviving civilians in Finleyville was herself. She’s never shirked from a challenge and always puts the needs of others over her own. Still, for one who’s used to bucking authority, her newfound responsibility sometimes weighs uneasily on her. Although she has faith in her Cleaners, Mom has questioned other leaders’ strategies on more than one occasion, especially since the death of her son. Mom’s goal is simple, make the Ridden pay.

HOFFMAN

A meticulous individual, enthusiastic doomsday prepper, and conspiracy theorist. When the infection hit, he and his mother hunkered down and rode out the storm as the rest of the world fell into chaos. After his mother passed away in her sleep and his supplies ran out, he left his boarded-up house to face the world of the Devil Worm. Howard Robert Hoffman is genuinely skilled and good hearted, with an earnest desire to be a useful part of the team. As part of the Cleaners, he’s finally come across the family that he’s always wanted – he just had to wade through the zombie apocalypse to find it.

SHARICE

From fighting fires to fighting Ridden, Sharice knows how to keep her cool in the heat of battle. At an early age, Sharice’s father taught her the importance of community and the value of helping neighbors. He lived and died by those words, meeting a tragic end after attempting to save victims trapped in a burning building. Determined to honor his legacy, she graduated from the local fire academy with top marks, and joined Evansburg’s most prestigious force, Engine 12. After the Collapse, she and her crew fought the Ridden until only she was left alive. Now, she’s joined a new crew, The Cleaners, and pledges to fight the Ridden till every last one of them is snuffed out.
