The year is 1977 and Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has been destroyed. Students have been thrust in to the Wizarding World and in to war long before they ever should have been. The Ministry of Magic with no other choice, has had to reduce the legal age of practicing magic to sixteen years old. No one saw them coming and no one expected a thing until it was far too late…

“Well, if you were holding still, like I instructed you, I wouldn’t have gotten the stitching crooked. Put it back on, I can mend it in a moment. But, this time, please hold still.” Elle pouted, tapping her wand impatiently against her fingers.

Rabastan sighed rather loudly, still insisting on holding the jumper out towards Eleanor. “I’m sorry cherie, but no amount of stitching in the world is going to make me like this damned thing, so please, I would rather just take a look at the others that you have available here.”

“Well excuse me for thinking you could pull off a chunky knit,” he retorted teasingly, laughing at how ridiculous the words sounded falling from his lips. “Why are we shopping anyways, Rab? Isn’t this adventure something better suited to… oh, I don’t know, one of the many, many women in your life?”

"The fact that you know the correct name for this... Ridiculous excuse for a jumper, tells the entire world just why you’re here doing this with me.” Rabastan retorted, pulling his own shirt back on once more. “Besides, it would seem all of the many women have much better things to do today than help me out, so I had to go with the next best thing.”

“What would you call it then?”

“For the most part, killing time until a better opportunity comes along. That is, of course, unless you actually enjoy sitting here reading?”

“Can’t you see that I’m busy?” 

“I can see that you’re reading, I’m not sure that constitutes as busy though, cherie.”

“Sadly, yeah. I’m forced to those two options.” Dahlia replied with a shrug. Smirking, she added. “You can always listen to that voice of reason telling you what not to do and disobey it. You don’t need people doing that in your stead.”

“Well that is rather unfortunate then.” Rabastan replied with a brief quirk of his brows. “True, true. I do have to say though, in my experience, the supposed voice of reason rarely makes itself know until you’ve already committed to doing something. And by then, it’s a bit late.”

“Right, yeah. Rabastan… I do remember. Sorry, I was a little bit clueless during school, didn’t pay much attention to people.” He shrugged, licking his lips and sighing, “Yeah, Lucius likes to get me out of the house, unfortunately. Meet new people, all that. Not really my thing.”

"That’s alright, I only paid enough attention to know who was around me and who to avoid.” Rabastan nodded a little. “Huh, well if you’re willing to let him drag you around, then who am I to comment.”
