something people, i feel, are taking for granted, is how much of this is like...perfectly tailored to a very...i don't want to say "shallow", but you know how a relative finds one thing you like and then that's the only thing they ever think about you?

but the way ly'lac talks, hell even how aa talks. just. it strikes me as "dirk trying to appeal to rose", almost? like, the vampire fangs, the overly coddling mother figure of the caretaker (dirk misinterpreting rose avoiding her mother with what he KNOWS about roxy?). just feels to me like maybe it's not ENTIRELY rose.
