When you lose someone, you lose two things. Firstly, and quite remarkably, the ability to hope for the future. All those dreams that you shared that you'd do everything together? Tomorrow - that won't come anymore, and when you look back at those memories, thinking of the moments when you laid out what to do the day after your date or some unspecified time in the future, you feel the loss of a promise with them. But no one talks about the second one, and that is to hope for memory. Soon, another is going to come into your life, and you will do the same things with that person: dates, movie nights, trips to the beach, gazing at the sunset dip into the horizon below. But you can't help but cough up your bitterness when you know that someone was once here before, and from now on every memory you make is going to be tainted by that ex, every memory is bastardized by someone who didn't deserve to be there, and you can't look at things the same way, like light flashing while an image is forming in a darkroom. You know you can't start over again because every memory bears the shadow of a dead one.

i highly recommend finding yourself a clingy (healthy) lovey dovey partner who's always super excited about you. life is too short to spend it with someone who acts like showing love is a chore.
