Photos for @vowofthorns Farewell to the Sun. Man...that day was crazy. It went from being sweltering and sunny to rainy/windy/cloudy/foggy AWESOME. The photos turned out great...so happy with them! 

I have been experimenting more with my photos...getting some new ideas. I want to do minimal post work, as I feel that will create more of a ME stamp on my work. Someone can recreate a filter you’ve made..but they will have a harder time recreating all the steps you took in camera, and “on set” (”on set” because I don’t have sets haha). Aside from doing a quick black and white edit, everything else was achieved while taking the photo. I have a creepy idea that I hope to make a reality soon...hopefully in time for Halloween!! :D <-- that’s a creepy smile! ....

So, I’m sure many of you are aware that Alcest is releasing a new album soon. How exciting! I have been repeatedly listening to the track they have already released. It got me thinking more and more about how much I truly appreciate this band. To me, Alcest is the soundtrack to a journey. The journey is either a physical or a spiritual/mental one. We always listen to Alcest during long car rides (we have family that lives about 6 hours away...my parents are about an hour...so lots of driving to be had!). They provide the perfect background music for those journeys. I find myself using their music as a guide for my thoughts during the quiet moments of those drives, and during the solitary moments I have with Alcest at home. I always feel like I’m floating along when I’m listening to them. It actually feels like laying on an air mattress in the lake back home. Try laying down, closing your eyes, and listening to Alcest...I think you’ll get that floaty feeling, too. A few weeks ago I played Shelter, mid day, while laying in the grass at home. When I was young, I had a lilac shrub not far from my bedroom window. During their bloom, with my windows open, my bedroom would smell as though the shrub was right inside my room. This year, I was lucky enough to be home to see that very plant blossom again. I love everything about them. I love the colour of the flowers and the leaves, the smell the flowers produce...and all of the interesting insects that rush to them when they are in bloom. This year, I really noticed how LOUD it is around blooming lilac...buzzzzz buzzzz buzzz . Here are some photos of a few of those lilac visitors. What music are you guys really in to right now?

Another species to tick off of my list. I LOVE owls. No, not the fad, but the actual animals. They are so powerful, so intelligent, so mysterious, so...breathtakingly beautiful. This was my first time seeing a Great Horned. There was a nest around, so I got the chance to see my first owlets, too! I’ll post a colour version of this, as well, but...you know I can’t resist black and white, so it came first haha. - Forest Photography - Kerrie Winegarden - 2016 

Lately, I have been very inspired by Explosions in the Sky. It is so crazy how they can say EVERYTHING with a song title and instrumental music. Their music can take you anywhere that you need to be... it is so very personal. You may form an idea based upon the album title or song title, but everything else is up to the listener. This album in particular has really been speaking to me over the last couple of weeks.  It feels like my life journey (over the past 2.5-3 years). This great awakening, with so much light and hope and love. I cannot say that I have ever felt like this before. Sometimes, it is overwhelming. I have always been an incredibly sensitive person, but this is different. Through this time I am feeling every feeling times a million. Haha. The good and the bad. But even the crushing sadness seems to have meaning. Before, it just felt like pointless torture. Now, it feels like it is there to help me somehow. It will teach me something. Maybe, it will teach me to be a more caring person. I think that it is. I had this event happen last week, that should not have been a big deal, but made me feel like SHIT.  And I am still really disappointed about it. I am trying hard to do what feels right to me, and right to help others, but there was this “NOPE. You aren’t doing it right, try something different!” Urg. A good lesson in seeing that you need to slow down and everything cannot happen perfectly right when we want it to, and that it is ok for that to happen. Actually, it is probably REALLY ok for that not to happen, because it could mean that things will fall into place even better than when you thought you were ready. So, life, you are really, really, teaching me about patience and endurance right now. I appreciate it, because I never knew just how impatient I really was until now. Also, I need to work harder, and longer (endurance), to get better and more meaningful results. Thank you Explosions in the Sky, for helping me make sense of all the craziness going on inside me right now.
