People drawing equivalences between corporate products and FOSS will say shit like "And the stuff I switched to will get bad too" is a great way to piss me off.

No, Linux isn't just going to be enshittified because 'enshittification happens'. There is no corporation or company behind Linux - with the exception of very specific distros like Red Hat. Normal people work on it for free so that it's better for everyone, including them.

This applies to pretty much any FOSS you look at. If the main branch gets shit, there *will* be a group of people who make their version better and it won't even be a hassle to switch. That's the point of Free and Open-Source Software.

At this point in time I am genuinely convinced that people are too hung up on the uncertainty of new stuff that they won't even consider leaving behind the garbage that infuriates them every day. No, Microsoft should not be your be-all end-all just because it's what you know.

Stop treating people giving you alternatives built from the ground-up by normal people as if it's equivalent to just switching to a new corporation. Stop treating corporate products like they are all there is. There is something better if you look, always, and it is almost always built by a community and not a corporation. This is what we need more of, *not* less of.

hi i saw you in my notifs and i just wanna lyk that my laptop which used to chug when i typed now runs seamlessly on linux mint, coincidence i think nah. (Also worth mentioning that open tablet drivers still help my graphic tablet - which is the main reason i have a laptop in the first place - worked seamlessly after like, 5 mins of solving weirds with the help of a dev on the team).

One thing I really appreciate about Linux Mint is how easy it is to arrange windows on my screen. Ctrl+arrow and everything is neatly arranged. On mac I have to hover across the green button juuuuuuuust right to trigger the menu (and the shortcuts I found online aren't working, maybe because of my azerty keyboard?), and on Windows... I haven't been on windows for so long actually, I forgot.
