THE FORCE IS WITH ME.

𝐈𝐓  𝐖𝐀𝐒  𝐀  𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐃  𝐃𝐀𝐘  𝐎𝐍  𝐉𝐄𝐃𝐇𝐀 ,  sunny  enough  to  bask  in  warm  pockets  of  light ,  but  not  enough  to  stave  off  the  constant  chill  of  the  shadows .   there  was  nothing  particularly  beautiful  about  it  as  far  as  baze  was  concerned ,  but  then  again ,  he  knew  that  was  not  what  chirrut  meant .   𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵  𝘥𝘰  𝘺𝘰𝘶  𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭  𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦  𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 ?   once  upon  a  time ,  he  would  have  answered  in  routine .   morning  prayer ,  meditation ,  drills .   perhaps ,  if  he’d  been  so  inclined ,  he’d  of  asked  chirrut  to  spar  and  they  would  practice  zama-shiwo  in  the  temple  courtyard  as  they  have  so  many  times  before .

  now ,  the  doors  to  the  courtyard  no  longer  open .   now ,  𝘣𝘢𝘻𝘦  𝘯𝘰  𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳  𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘺𝘴 .   he  answers  with  a  hollow  grunt  and  spares  little  more  than  a  glance  up  from  where  he  sits  inspecting  his  blaster ,  readying  it  for  the  day  to  come .       ❛       𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠  𝐲𝐨𝐮 ,   what  i  feel  like  doing  and  what  i  will  end  up  doing  will  rarely  be   𝘵𝘩𝘦  𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦  𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 .       ❜      

he  stood  there  &  it  almost  looked  as  if  NOTHING  could  bother  him ,  nothing  could  mess  up  the  good  mood  of  his .  DEEP  DOWN ,  he  felt  it .  He  was  angry  at  everything  that  was  happening  around  them  &  he  was  sure  that  Baze  knew  but ...  his  head  turned  to  where  he  knew  Baze  was .  If  there  was  someone  he  could  ALWAYS  feel  in  the  force ,  it  was  him .  His  eternal  companion . 

ONE  BREATH ,  THEN  ANOTHER .  The  air  on  Jedha  was  not  the  best ,  dusty  &  dry  but  it  was  homey .  It  was  all  he  had  left .  Temple  in  ruins ,  kyber  stolen .  Fingers  tight  around  the  staff  he  held ,  his  head  leaned  to  the  side  just  a  tad ,  eyes  still  closed .  Wherever  he  was ,  BAZE  MALBUS  was  not  far  away .  He  could  feel  him ,  always  could .  ❝it  is  a  beautiful  day ,  don’t  you  agree ,  Baze ?❞  another  deep  breath  before  his  eyes  were  opened ,  milky  white  irises .  ❝what  good  will  happen  to  us  today ?  what  do  you  feel  like  doing ?❞  

          his  past.  flashes  of  the  fragments  of  it  flicker  though  his  head  at  the  thought.  what  -  what  order  had  those  pieces  gone  in?  had  he  been  airspeeder  racing  at  the  academy?  no  -  he  couldn’t  -  those  bits  are  mis - matched.  “i  -”  his  throat  works  for  a  moment,  “wish  it  were  -  that  easy  for  me  to  think  that.”  the  words  feel  jumbled  in  bodhi’s  mouth,  but  he  falls  silent  instead  of  trying  to  clarify.
