I made a post a while ago with some of my favourites, but it’s a little outdated. I guess it’s time for a new one?

Embers (E, 34K, Modern) This is one of the most gorgeous stories I’ve ever read. It’s so emotionally charged and so beautifully written. Ben & Rey are exes seeing each other for the first time after a long time. It will break your heart before putting it back together in the loveliest way.

Janus (M, K, Modern) I feel like I talk about this fic once a week (with good reason). In short - they’re neighbours and Ben has more issues than Vogue. It’s a punch in the gut and a warm hug all at once. It’s a really lovely story about grappling with your demons and stepping out into the proverbial sunlight. It’s about hope and friendship and love and it’s incredible.

we could plan a house, we could build a tree (E, 142K, Modern) An absolute classic. It’s about growing pains and growing feelings - the transition from childhood into adulthood and all the messy bits in between. God, it will hurt you. Badly. But it’ll be so, so worth it.

For Now (E, 8K, Modern) A recent fave, but one that completely stole my heart. They’re soulmates, but they don’t know it. (How many times did I cry? More than I care to admit).

Mitan, Midi (E, 83K, Modern) Rey is going through a very rough patch when she discovers that she’s been left some property in France by an estranged aunt. She moves there… and meets Ben. Look, here’s the thing about this one it deals with depression. I relate to Rey on so many levels, it was actually quite therapeutic. It’s also funny and charming and lovely. I’ll never forget it.

the heartbreak prince (E, WIP) It combines three of my favourite things in life: Reylo, HP and diasterisms’ wonderful writing. It’s the Harry Potter AU JK Rowling wishes she could have writen. It’s perfection.

the way you make me feel (is kinda annoying actually) (T, 6K) Soft, jelly-legged TA Ben and feral, prickly Rey in the most charming University AU of all time. Perfection.

Gonna Get Myself Connected (E, 40K) Coworkers + enemies to lovers + ABO = the most fun office romance AU you will ever read, featuring an utterly unforgettable elevator scene *fire emoji*

The Food of Love (E, 60K) This one’s got it all: the inital antagonism, the passion, the lust… and the cello. Trust me, you won’t be looking at them the same way ever again. Reylo as musicians, basically.

Canonverse/Canon Divergent

Sword of the Jedi (T, M, +100K) This series is everything canon should have been. The author knows Star Wars. It’s rich in lore and steeped in emotion and it gives us a truly inspired alternative to canon. I will never, ever forget it.

Yes (E, 4K) Wherein Rey accepts Ben’s proposal. Amazing fluff and gourmet smut. Sometimes that’s all you need.

The Way to Tomorrow (M, 42K) An absolutely gorgeous story about life post-TLJ wherein Ben is exiled and Rey keeps tabs on him via the bond. I’ll never ever forget this story or its very realistic take on life post-war. A tough read because of the subject matter, but so, so incredible.

i’m always in this twilight (in the shadow of your heart) (M, 7K) ( Post-TLJ. Rey chases Ben across the galaxy. Beautiful and poetic. Sometimes a fic sticks with you in ways that are hard to explain.

find a thread to pull, and we can watch it unravel (E, 17) During a Resistance celebration, Rey and a redeemed Ben leave the party to have a conversation. It’s just the most beautiful take on post-war Reylo: Ben in this… gosh, every bit of my heart aches.

The Writings of Ben Solo (E, 39K) Ben Solo jotting down his innermost thoughts all over the sacred Jedi texts and Rey finding said texts, years later, is one of my favourite concepts of all time. This story more than delivers.

Through the sorrow, all through our splendor (E, 7K) Possibly my favourite TROS fix-it fic. It healed my wounds and soothed my hurts.

The Road of Excess (E, 1K) Deliciously dark & twisty dark!Rey & Kylo. It’s short but it packs such a punch.

alright so here we go again, this is version #1 of ben’s last scene in TROS, i’ve received multiple emails from disney warning me ab posting it again, but i’ve also received a number of messages from you guys who’re dying to see it, so maybe some time away from social media is for the best lol

just to be clear, this is a re-edit based on the continuity of the original scene and in relation to the original score, an explanation of continuity, professional editing, and my thoughts regarding the original scene is available on my blog rn. this wasn’t created as a form of wishful thinking or in regard to what i wanted to see (version #2 is also available on my blog rn), i genuinely made this attempting to make sense of the choppiness and confusing character reactions. once again, i changed absolutely nothing ab the music, this is the original track that plays during the original scene. the only thing i changed was when it started.

Rey: Okay.

Ben: What?

Rey: Sure. Since you already know the way... Besides, why bother the trouble to find the second wayfinder in a dangerous mission? You've already found one, let's use that.

Ben: Really?

Rey: Plus, it would be better to have help while facing the Emperor. And since we both want him dead and we make a pretty good team, as we established in the previous film...

Ben: Whoa, whoa! So you're saying... you are going to Exegol with me?

Rey: Of course! It would be very stupid of me to go alone. Why would I?

Ben: Yeah, that would be dumb. So... Aren't you going to fight me?

Rey: Why?

Ben: We are in the death star, I guess a lightsaber duel would be very dramatic and visually outstanding.

Rey: Ben, if I wanted you dead, I'd kill you in the throne room while you were unconscious.

Ben: I know, right?!! It's not like you had to run in the desert and do a dangerous backflip!

Rey: Nah... That's just extra.

Ben: Good, that's what I thought.

Rey: Just to let you know, I have two lightsabers now. If you need one--

Ben: But I already have my own.

Rey: Yeah, but if you happen to toss it in the ocean--

Ben: Why would I do that? It's my only weapon! I need it to protect myself!

Rey: Lol, I don't know, just saying. Oh, another thing I forgot to mention! Now I can force heal. So if you get injured or die, don't worry, I got you.

Ben: That's a relief! I might try it too!

Rey: Sure, it's totally not dangerous! Nothing happens to you.

Ben: So I'm not risking dying or something?

Rey: Absolutely not. Since I did it without any harm, why would it harm you? Don't worry, you'll be fine. You are a fan favorite.

Ben: I know, JJ and Chris Terrio wouldn't dare kill me off.

Rey: It would make no sense at all. But even if they do, I healed a murderous snake once, I can do it again.

Ben: Hey--

Rey: Just kidding, love you, hope you come back to the light side! ♡♡♡ And even if you don't, that vision of us in the Sith throne was dope!

Ben: Oh you saw that too? So it wasn't just my dream. Were you sitting in my lap in your vision too?

Rey: Yeah and I kept touching your tight.

Ben: Good, let's kill that old man and sit on his throne.

Rey: But can we be on the light side while seated?

Ben: Rey, it's literally the SITH throne! What part of the word "sith" do you not get?

Rey: But you said you wanted to let old things die, remember? Can we just be grey jedi instead?

Ben: K, whatever, if we still get to touch fingertips I don't mind.

Rey: I should probably call Leia and tell her I'm with you. You know, just in case she wants to speak to you, she doesn't have to reach out using the Force.

Ben: That would kill her.

Rey: Yeah, she can just call me on this high-tech comlink we use in this galaxy.

well seeing as that they came for me after posting version 1 (probably too close to the actual ending) maybe they’ll let version 2 slide bc it’s definitely more manipulated

They decided to make a movie taking into account feedback and complaints that certain fans had about the first two films in the trilogy. That resulted in a fan service and nostalgia filled mess that made little cohesive sense and has been slammed by critics and fans and is now the worst reviewed Star Wars movie.

They had a stellar cast, in particular Academy Award Nominee Adam Driver, one of the best actors of this generation.

He played Kylo Ren/Ben Solo, arguably the best and most popular character of the ST.

They gave him no dialogue in the second half and completely underused this immensely talented actor yet he still gave it his all and stole the movie.

They killed off his character in the most tragic, unsatisfying way.

Now, a month after the movie was released, this character they killed unceremoniously is all anyone can talk about. The one thing everyone can agree on is that Ben Solo and Adam’s portrayal of him was the highlight of the film and the ST.

#BenSoloChallenge was trending.

In memory of this character over $80k has been raised for Adam’s non profit organisation, Arts in the Armed Forces.

Reylo has skyrocketed in popularity and the fandom has created so much new content.

The Rise of Kylo Ren #1 was one of the best selling comics of 2019, even though it was only released on December 18, two weeks before the end of the year.

Adam Driver has been nominated for an Academy Award for the second year in a row.

No one is talking about the trio, Palpatine’s return, Rey Skywalker or any of the nostalgic fan service. It’s all about Ben Solo.

They in no way did this character’s journey justice. They threw him under the bus for their own selfish reasons even though it didn’t make sense for the narrative. They tried to throw him into a pit never to be seen again but the jokes on them because now Ben Solo is more alive than ever!
