Artist's Heart

He told me he was afraid of commitment with thirteen tattoos on his body.

In my experience poetry speaks to you either at first sight or not at all. A flash of revelation and a flash of response. Like lightning. Like falling in love.

Be alone. Eat alone, take yourself on dates, sleep alone. In the midst of this you will learn about yourself. You will grow, you will figure out what inspires you, you will curate your own dreams, your own beliefs, your own stunning clarity, and when you do meet the person who makes your cells dance, you will be sure of it, because you are sure of yourself.

If only my heart were as cold as I pretend it is, maybe I could get over this.

Isn’t it strange that we talk least about the things we think about most?

Don’t you think there is always something unspoken between two people?

Don’t be afraid of losing people, be afraid of losing yourself trying not to lose someone else.
