Small fact
Lasagna is an Italian dish, but the name has its origin in Greece. In the Netherlands they call the dough sheets from this dish lasagnebladen, while in Italian they are called lasagne (plural). Lasagna is one sheet of dough, so you need several lasagne for this delicious meal. The name lasagna comes from Greece: lasanon means flat dough cake.

At the table with my family
I compared the eating habits of my parents with those of my siblings, nephews and nieces and friends.
What really struck me is that the eating habits of my sister, my cousins and my friends were very similar to mine. This is probably because we are in the same age category. We prefer fatty food and do not actually mention anything in the healthy category. While if you would ask my parents, they sometimes like fish in their week or a vegetable mix. This rarely happens in my age category. This is because the greasy food is tastier, cheaper and you can easily get it.
My parents have a fixed structure of food in a day. While if you would ask me and my sister, we would ask for something to eat every day. An example is that my parents usually have breakfast around 10 am, if they have free time, and eat 6 pm with fruit in between. But we (my nieces and nephews and my sister) eat all day long. We don't really have a fixed structure.
Me and my parents usually prepare the food themselves at home. Sometimes we buy ready-made meals, but I'm really only talking about frozen pizza or fries. We therefore only opt for this when we are short on time.
Once a month we have a dinner with our family in a restaurant. We have arranged it so that every month someone else chooses where we eat.
Usually we always eat together, but when I have to work, train or go to school, I always eat separately. This also applies if my parents work, for example. It is more common that we eat separately than we eat together. Usually we only have time to eat together during holidays.
We have a TV at the dining table that we don't usually use. We usually only use them when we eat separately. With us, especially the GSM use is prohibited. This is very rude at our table.
With my other family (so my uncles, aunts etc.) I only eat on occasions. Usually this is on a Friday when we always eat couscous. This is a traditional Moroccan dish. And we usually drink tea together in the evening.

Basmati rice
Basmati rice was introduced in the Middle East and Central Asia by Arab and Indian traders. It became from a usual thing to eat in these countries, to a world wide usual thing to eat. Basmati derives from the Sanskrit, literally meaning "fragrant". Basmati rice is believed to have been cultivated in the Indian subcontinent for centuries. The earliest extant work to mention basmati rice is Heer Ranjha.Â
What is basmati rice ?
Basmati is a variety of long, slender-grained aromatic rice which is traditionally from the Indian subcontinent. As of 2018-19, India exported to 65% of the overseas basmati rice market, while Pakistan accounted for the remainder. Many countries use domestically grown basmati rice crops however, basmati is geographically exclusive to certain districts of India and Pakistan.

Date palm
A date or a date palm is a flowering plant species in the palm family. There is no exact place for the origin but they think it’s originated in Egypt and Mesopotamia. Date trees reach about 21 to 23 meters in height. The date fruit is a small oval-cylindrical brown yellowish fruit. The species name dactylifera "date-bearing" comes from the Greek words daktylos , which means finger. The date has at least existed for about 50 million years. It is a very important fruit in Iraq, Iran, Arabia and north Africa west to Morocco, because there it is a tradition.

Pistachio
My favorite snack is pistachio. it is very tasty and has a pleasant structure. I enjoy it when I eat it. Now, I always wondered where pistachio came from. I didn't even know where it grew. The pistachio is native to Asia, but is widely grown in Europe because of the edible, green seeds, which are used in ice cream, for example.
I used to think pistachio grew underground, apparently they plant it and a tree grows. what is also very interesting is that it is good for your vision. It is also suitable for people on a low-calorie diet. So if you have a movie marathon planned this weekend, don't eat chips or drink cola this time. So it is much better to feast on a full bowl of pistachio.

Comparing food
For the last time I showed that I had a very weird eating habit. I ate continuously, without limits. It was unhealthy for me and I realized this through another example. I compare my style with that of my grandparents. I noticed that my grandfather had diabetes, so he had almost nothing in common with me. My grandmother, on the other hand, is someone who eats what she wants. She is almost 90 but is happy to eat sweets and enjoy life. My cousins that have my age do all kinds of things while eating.
Eating is not a habit for them to enjoy. It serves to fill your stomach. For the rest it doesn't matter how or where they eat it. they are on their cell phones, they call or they still eat sweets. They are sometimes worse than me. The only difference between the whole thing is that they do sports. They exercise a lot and eat smaller portions. They eat and eat everything but they do this in moderation. I don’t . That's why they still have a beautiful figure and I don't.
And finally when I go to see how people eat in my own house, I notice that they are much healthier. Something they often do and I don't drink water. I drank less than one liter a day. This also explained why I was so lazy and why I was getting pimples.

Peaches
Peaches are among the drupes, as are apricots, cherries and plums. All these species belong to the Prunus genus of the Rose family.Although the name suggests that the fruit is originally from Persia, it has its roots in China. He probably came to Europe via Persia. Peaches are round fruits, up to about 12 cm and weigh an average of 125 grams. They have a thin skin that is softly hairy. In the center is a large stone pit, which can be either loose or attached to the pulp, depending on the type of variety. The color of the fruits varies from pale yellow to yellow with a red color. We as a family love peaches. we grew up with it and always remind myself of the times when I used to go to the supermarket with my grandfather to buy just a bag of peaches.Â

Differences in food
There are a lot of differences in the matter of eating patterns between the youngest people of my family and the mature people of my family. It’s always a new adventure eating with different people of my family.
When we were younger my mom always made my food for school and also breakfast as well as dinner. So I always ate healthy. As I got older, I got a job and started to earn some money and I discovered ordering food and eating outside. It as a magical moment and I ate more and more outside. I myself am not really a healthy eater and I eat a lot of snacks. Just like my friends, they also eat unhealthy and mostly eat outside. We always eat together and it is mostly a lot of fun. I mostly skip breakfast, because I get a bit sick if I eat in the morning. But that’s I for the younger people in my family, my nephews and nieces also eat unhealthy because we’re just young and we need to enjoy.
My parents and grandparents always make food at home. They really think it’s a waste of money to order food, because we already have food in the house. My mom cooks really good and always want us to eat really healthy, so we can grow up being healthy. My grandparents want us to eat delicious and always threat us with different kinds of sweetness.
In my family at home my mom always makes food an we rarely order food, but I order food. We do sometimes go out to eat breakfast, but not so much to eat dinner. Sometimes we eat dinner together and sometimes we don’t and eat on different times. There are times where we watch television and we text while eating, but never when we visit out grandparents or aunts, nephews or nieces. If we eat with our family like our grandparents, it has to be a special occasion and then we eat a very big meal and special. Different kinds of recipes or sweet stuff.
I’m happy that I can be so happy about food and enjoy it.

The same eating habits as my family?
There is a lot of difference in the eating habits of the past and present. In today's times, it is very easy to decide what you want to eat. Sometimes you don't feel like making something, so you can simply order food from a restaurant. We usually order food from a chip shop once a week. We don't want to end up as fat people. Sometimes we try not to order food, but we can't handle that temptation. In addition to ordering once with a chip shop, my parent always prepares meals for the whole family. They think it is important that everything is prepared and fresh themselves. Both my grandparents used to find it difficult to eat out or take out food. There used to be not so many options as now. My grandparents normally ate at home as always. For example, if I suggested eating them, they wouldn't even try to eat. They don't like food from a restaurant etc.
My grandparents are happy to eat with family at their home / or a family member's home. We usually also go out for dinner a few times a month. We usually do this together with the family. Our heel is an American breakfast very filthy. They serve a meal that is actually suitable for dinner. We do not have a very extensive breakfast, but we do have a breakfast that you will certainly fill. My grandparents eat around 5pm. That is quite early for us. My father is home around 6.30 pm so we eat around that time. We usually eat the same thing because my parents think it is very important. You can find gossip and events at the table. My grandparents have breakfast very early around 7am on the weekend. That is very early for us because we are free during the weekend and can sleep in and therefore have breakfast around noon. We are obliged by my parents to be at the table with your food and not with your mobile phone from the TV. My parents can never convince you to come to the table with your mobile phone and that applies to our entire family. My grandparents also eat without watching television. They find it respectful. If my mom makes something, we should all eat and not everyone what he wants. We can only drink after we have eaten that we learned from our grandparents. They think it is important that you eat enough and only then start drinking. We drink very healthy, such as a homemade fruit juice, water, smoothie, etc. So you can see that our family does not consist of fat people, but rather of sporty people. That also ensures a healthy life in the present.

Fufu
Fufu is a staple food common in countries in West- and Central-Africa such as Cote D’Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Ghana, etc. It is mostly made with the Ghanaian and Nigerian method which is pounding cassava and green plantain flour with water. It is often served with groundnut soup. You have to boil starchy food corps  and pound them into a dough. Fufu is eaten with fingers and in a small ball. You can dip it in a sauce.
Fufu (or foofoo, fufuo, foufou) comes from Brazil and Portuguese traders introduced it to Africa in the 16th century.

Food around me
I have always been surrounded by many kinds of food from different cultures. That’s because I was surrounded by many cultures. My eating habits haven’t always been as healthy as it should be.
When we were younger mostly our parents an grandparents choose what we eat. I grew up in a very healthy home and we always ate and still eat together. When we grew a little a little older, we had to learn to make food ourselves. For me it wasn’t really good. I started to eat unhealthy and eat a lot of snacks, this is the reason why I did a lot of diets. I normally wouldn’t eat breakfast or take food with me to school. I was to tired to make food and that’s the reason I always ate outside and ordered food. Now in this period, I was really getting sick of thinking of myself as a fat person and always feeling guilty about eating something unhealthy. The first thing I needed to do was change my eating pattern and I didn’t have to go on a diet. I stopped with eating sugar and that helped me a lot. I don’t really crave these snacks anymore. My main reason for changing my eating pattern was just to become healthy again. To just run without being out of breath after 5 minutes or walk the stairs without being out of breath.
My brother and sisters ate a bit the same as me, but they always stay skinny. So they don’t really have an issue with it.
We always ate healthy at home and most of the time we prepared our food ourselves. Also we do not go out to dinner often, only on special occasions. At home my dad likes us to always eat together. That is a bit of a rule in house, we eat together at the same time and we do watch television, but texting is forbidden. That’s a bit rude we think.
My grandparents live in the Netherlands far away, the other side of Netherland. So we don’t see them that often, but in vacations we visit and then we eat meals at the table also healthy food (not ordered).  It is a bit different, because they want us to eat the best healthy meals. That’s why we eat extensive homemade meals with special drinks like non-alcoholic drinks. My grandmother from Belgium always came 2-3 days in a week to us and slept at our house. If we went to her house she always treated us with lots of food, sometimes healthy sometimes unhealthy. She made what we like to eat.
I have always enjoyed eating with my family, because we always have these conversations that bring us together. I’m very grateful to have such a beautiful and wonderful family.

Food habits
My parents are from Morocco, they are born in Europe but they both have a Moroccan taste. They love eating fritted fish, couscous, harrira and a lot of more traditional meals. I asked my mom a few questions to kind of know more about her way of eating. My mom is always on a diet, since I can remember she is always talking about her body and how bad she wants to lose some weight. She is already so thin and she still thinks that some things are unhealthy for her. Imagine we go to the restaurant, my mom is always the one who orders water and a small footplate. She never chooses large ore medium, even though she’s very hungry she would drink a lot of water to fill up her stomach and then she would start to eat. She is a small person and always chooses the healthy side of food. Fruit and vegetables are things that she really likes. Mom also have certain days in the month were she does eat what she wants. What we call a cheat day.
My dad is has a easy eat style. He eat everything that he wants to eat. He looks out for his health but a lot of times he is just eating for the fun. He is a big fan of meat, he always buy fish and chicken when he’s doing grocery. My father isn’t that hard to convince to eat something, he agrees with everything. I just know that he gets excited of Moroccan food. My father also has problems with his heart, that’s why he is watching that he doesn’t get a lot of salt in his food. The doctor said that it’s increasing the pressure. Except that he is doing fine and he still enjoys the art of food. He loves all the different sorts of drinks and meals. He also cooks a lot, so he knows how to make certain meals. He just loves to add something to the recipe that is authentic
