What if the lead girl is gonna be the literal reincarnation of Egon?

How did I come to that conclusion? Look at this picture with the girl in it:

Look at those glasses and hair and tell me she doesn’t look like a little girl Egon.

If that was the only thing I had I wouldn’t be making this theory, but check out this description of the girl that I’m not 100% sure is real, but sounds plausible to me:

“The girl is an "insanely smart kid," has a hard time with "interpreting and expressing emotions and speaks with a flat delivery that make her observations humorous", wants to connect with others, struggles with interpreting how her family and friends feel, has difficulty sharing her own feelings, and her science acumen is said to prove invaluable.”

Who does that remind you of?

It’s very odd that this new girl might have basically the same personality as a preexisting character, unless she were supposed to BASICALLY BE the same character.

You’re probably thinking these parallels between her and Egon is more of a metaphorical thing, and you’re probably right. Plus, for the theory to work that would mean Egon died a lot earlier than his actor did which would be depressing.

So if it IS a metaphorical thing, my theory is that these similarities endear her and the other kids to the old team and help bridge the generational gap.

This whole theory is wacky and ridiculously specific, I know, but it got lodged in my brain and I couldn’t get it out. I don’t really want it to happen, though. I’d like the movie to subtly pay homage to Egon/Harold and that’s it. I’ll lose my shit if it does happen!

There are some things about this theory that have some uncomfortable implications, though. Egon was a weird dude, sure, but I think there were some lines he wouldn’t cross. If he purposefully tried to make his soul reincarnate as another person, he’d be robbing said individual of having their own thoughts and personality. That’s the kind of thing Vigo the Carpathian would do, not Egon. Plus, I’d rather have a new character that can stand on her own without having to rely on a pre-existing character who is already popular. I wouldn’t want her to out-shine her co-stars because she’s Egon’s “chosen one” either. (Lets not even get started on how awkward a reunion with Janine would be in this scenario!)

ON THE OTHER HAND, it’s entirely possible that Egon could have gotten his soul transferred to a new body by forces beyond his control. Which classic GB villain do we know has beef with Egon, and targets children specifically?

That’s right, the Boogeyman.

If the movie were to take the literal route, I would appreciate a scene at the climax where she has to tell people “I am my own person!!!”
