Last day at Primary ever. About to embark on my last ever pick up from the most wonderful school with staff that feel like family. Feeling absolutely heart broken, proud, happy, excited and terrified all at the same time. I know we are probably going to pay big time for this later but she has been up and dressed since 6am, excited for SATS and for showing them what she is made of. (her words, I expect a combination of slime, rainbows and wolf claws myself) We have had a rocky as hell week and who knows what tomorrow will bring but today she is doing amazing and I am already so very proud of her. Today at the Red Box Project we celebrate the strength of women worldwide but, at the same time, we feel deeply saddened at the injustices still faced by so many of our sisterhood across the world. Women menstruate. Periods are normal, a fact of life. Menstruation should not be a barrier to learning. Education and having absolute access to it is every girl’s human right, and yet young women are missing out on huge parts of their education, right now, in our own communities. Their resilience is astounding but they should not have to carry this on their shoulders. They are our inspiration to keep fighting to end period poverty. We believe that change will come and it will come because none of us has or ever will ever give up fighting for equality. Womanhood is love, strength and pure grit. We also NEVER give up.
