"My~ Did you not tell me your name yet? Must be unnerving to know things others don't~ Wouldn't you say?"
Ace Trappola didn't know how to react to you.
Later on, the dorm leaders were notified that you would be the new prefect of the old, worn-down dorm.
Deuce Spade recalls after Riddleโs overblot something you had mumbled a few days ago.

At the time, he was too frazzled about the newly learned knowledge about eggs to pay attention.

"How unfortunate that one of your own betrayed you, Jamil."

Jamil whirled in shock towards Azul.
Azul seemed to take his reaction happily, "Oh? Don't you know? We got a letter at the beginning of winter break promising us a grand show. Truly, to know you can't trust your own dormates, how unfortunate you are."
No one would betray him!

He turned towards the corner.
Kalim pours a drink and hands it over.

You were awake before anyone else.
He had been getting ready for his morning jog.
"What are you talking about?"

This idea came to me last night and wouldnโt let me sleep. So I had to write and post it ๐ซก
Some notes:
The number nine/nine lives is used on purpose. In Japan, the common number for death is โfourโ but I think even going through this 4 time. You would still care and have some sanity. But nine times?? Now thatโs when youโre done with their shit.
The number 9 in Japan means unlucky/ominous because the kanji pronunciation is the same as the ones that mean suffering/pain.
This could be seen as an isekai/time loop or both. The constant changes in perspective was done on purpose. Give the mystery and dread feeling.
I tried to include a bit of every book moments in this that gave away you knowing the events and you living multiple lives:
Prologue and book 1: the opening ceremony, ace and grim statue event, and deuce with the tart.
Book 2: the donuts was done on purpose, but so was the left hand being emphasized. Because thatโs the hand that Leona cracks in his OB.
Book 3: allusions to the frame
Book 4: azul and co getting the invite and stopping Jamilโs plan.
Book 5: Vil and his jealousy and judging neige Blanche
Book 6: the payment to fix ramshackle dorm and then some. Also would be funny to take away idias merch money.
Book 7: Lilia Vanrouge and his secrets. If he told silver and malleus then he could have stopped it. Also, love the haunting potential and expression of the lullaby that no one but a select few should know being heard by you. Someone who shouldnโt know it at all.
Book 8: the broken mirror that we use to talk to Mickey with. One of the main focuses of this book and possible reasons grim might Ob
All this to kind of give the feeling that no matter what you do or the inactions, the events still happen.
Also I like the idea of Yuu being a bit eerie, creepy, and/or just fed up. Make them feel the uncertainties they had to feel.
when i get my hands on an extra copy of the octavinelle mangasโฆ.oohh baby ill be unstoppable, but for now i was only able to work with their brief appearance in the savanaclaw manga book 1
silverโs narcolepsy has always felt way heavier than people treat it
it gets brushed off as a gimmick. a joke trait. โsleepy knightโ and thatโs where the conversation stops. but what he has is not just being tired. itโs his body shutting down without warning. no consent, no buildup, no way to force himself to stay conscious. thatโs not cute. thatโs dangerous
and itโs impossible not to think about how cruel that is specifically to him
heโs human in a household of fae. he knows, probably earlier than most people ever have to, that his life is shorter. that time matters. that every hour counts. he was raised with love and protection and purpose, and somewhere along the way he mustโve decided that the least he could do was stay useful. stay present. stay awake
except he canโt
sleep takes him whenever it wants. mid-task, mid-thought, mid-guard. whole chunks of his day disappear without him choosing it. training time gone. study time gone. moments he couldโve spent helping or proving himself gone. and thereโs nothing heroic about that feeling. itโs just frustrating
worse, no one can really explain it to him. so whatโs he supposed to think? that heโs weak? undisciplined? that if he just tried harder he could beat it?
people around him donโt get it. they say everyone gets tired. that school is exhausting. that itโs normal. but thatโs not what this is, and silver doesnโt even have the language to defend himself properly. so he just nods. accepts it. internalizes it
grades drop. expectations pile up. disappointment hangs in the air even when no one says it out loud
and through all of that, he still feels grateful. which might be the worst part
he loves his family. he knows how much theyโve given him. and every time he falls asleep when he shouldnโt, it probably feels like heโs wasting something precious they worked so hard to give him. like his own body is sabotaging his chance to give anything back
living like that would make anyone resent sleep
that heavy pull behind your eyes. the way your limbs give out when you slow down for even a second. the fear that resting means failing
so when silver stays awake, really awake, even for a little while, it isnโt just relief
itโs proof that for once, heโs still here. still present. still trying
and god, how badly he must wish it would just stop someday
