My two little cousins Sydney and Kayla in near Parkland, FL. Sydney (middle) goes to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. She was there the day of the shooting, hiding in a barricaded classroom in a closet for hours. However, she was safe and got to go home. Unfortunately, she did lose her best friend [edit: 2 best friends]. My family suffered yesterday not knowing if she was okay or not. She’s a 14 year old girl and her family had to worry all day about whether or not she was safe at school. We are so lucky that she is okay. But things could’ve gone south very quickly, like it did with her friend, whose family is now devastated. I believe Sydney’s mom was watching her from heaven yesterday and kept her safe and once again, we are all so lucky she’s okay. Gun control is something that shouldn’t have to be debated. Children’s lives shouldn’t be at risk because of one dumbass. RIP to all the students and teachers whose lives were lost🖤
