so any purebloods/death eaters/class of '76 people/former slytherins/any other category i'm forgetting that would make sense, i'm up for discussing plot or backgrounds, so don't hesitate to message me and we can figure something out so i can finally get her integrated into the rp like i should have a month ago.

“I’ve had business to attend to, as I mentioned the last two nights,” Alberich said, a mild warning in his tone that only made Isobel’s smirk widen. Poor man. He was becoming increasingly aware of the fact that she wanted more from him than the occasional attention. She wanted to be part of his plans and schemes. She wanted to have something that was more important than a dinner or a Ministry ball.

“How is your business partner?” she asked innocently.

“My business partner?”

“Yes, the lovely gentleman that works in Magical Accidents and Catastrophes with you. I can’t quite remember the department, but I’m sure he wasn’t an Oblivator. Muggle Liaison, perhaps? Or was that not who you stayed behind to speak with after the ball?”

“Isobel.” The warning was clearer this time, meant to chastise her as one might chastise a child. As if what would insult him would insult her to the same level. She bit her lip, holding back a laugh. If she was insulted every time someone belittled her or her sex, she would have nothing left. As intelligent as she would credit her husband to be, imaginative was not a word that she would use to describe him.

Isobel remained silent for a few moments, watching him as he walked around the room. Best to let him think he had won. Men were always so entertaining when their false sense of security was shattered.

“Did you kill him?”

He rounded on her, fury in his eyes. “That is none of your business, Isobel.”

Her wand twirled between the fingers of one hand as she casually examined the nails on the other. Far too long since she had the house elves trim them. Perhaps there would be time tomorrow, if nothing else came up. She raised her eyes to Alberich’s after a moment. “I only thought,” she said casually, “that it would be more pleasant to have them kill themselves. Wouldn’t you say? You wouldn’t have to worry about getting your hands dirty. It all seems quite ghastly.”

Amusement warred with the fury for a moment before he shook his head, settling next to her on the bed. “Then you know nothing about killing. As it should be.”

“Perhaps,” she demurred. She knew even as she respectfully agreed, she didn’t believe the words. Oh, she didn’t wish to do the killing. But she hadn’t spent weeks, months even, investigating the dark magic books she had found in the library simply for her own amusement.

Well enough for him to think he was the one who held the control and knew exactly the steps to take. She was used to being dismissed, but it left her anything but useless. With enough foresight -- and oh, she had that in spades -- she could pick up the pieces with Alberich failed. She could succeed where others had fallen.
