baskin-robbins found out

     of all the people to find him , he didn’t expect Scott Lang to be the one to come up to his apartment . it’s well secluded , and he goes out with face masking technology for a reason , to hide away from people , until the beard finishes growing and his hair , anyway . a brow arches as he holds the door , staring at the other man . “ … well Scott , I’m surprised to see you . ” and Scott is probably surprised to see him , considering a lot of people had thought he was on the moon , or something along those lines . “ wanna come in for a few ? ” he steps aside to let the man in , curious as to why Scott is even there . but it’s nice to at least see a familiar face .

he might not have the resources of the average avenger (or even former avengers), but scott is no slouch when it comes to obtaining information. and he does know his way around computers. so finding steve was not as difficult as it might sound for a guy like him.

also, he just happened to be in brooklyn eating pizza when a man shaped like steve rogers walked by the giant window and scott decided to follow him.

“i know i’m probably the last guy you thought would show up unannounced at your doorstep, but hey. a friend is a friend, right?” with a grin, he steps across the threshold and into the modest apartment, shoving his hands into his pockets while he looked around. 

“so how have you been, man?”

                                @thunderbringer​  —  “Go rest, this isn’t up for debate.”

“hmm?”

scott’s head bobs up after falling off of the hand that was holding it up. he hadn’t really expected to find the god of thunder right in front of his face. that wakes him up a bit, but he still thinks he could sleep for oh... maybe a week or so. 

“trust me, big guy...” scott yawns, reaches out and pats thor on the forearm. his eyes go a little wide when he feels the muscle beneath his hand, and before he really stops to think about what he’s doing, he gives thor’s arm a little squeeze. “wow. that’s —” another moment to indulge, then he looks back at thor again. “sorry.”

drawing his hand back, scott yawns and rubs his face with both hands. the wakefulness is already starting to wear back off. he gives thor a tired smile and slides of the stool he’d been sitting on. “we did good today. feels good to save the world.” he starts to shuffle away, but stops and turns back.

         loki narrows his eyes  ,  tongue pressed lightly between their teeth while he tries to make  any  sense of what he’s being told  .  then scott points at him  &&  he makes a face  ,  something between insult  &&  confusion  ,  before glancing down at the microphone  &&  copying what the man does  .  there’s a soft hum of audio feedback that tells him the device is doing  .  .  .   something  now  &&  when he raises it towards his mouth  (  again  ,  following scott’s example  )  &&  hears the increased volume of his breathing  ,  loki nearly throws the thing on the floor  .

        pink lyrics  ?  loki barely has the chance to register before spotting coloured text on the screen  &&  some mix of scott’s restlessness  &&  the  overwhelming  nature of everything that’s happening pulls the demigod into playing along before  really  thinking through what he’s doing  .

         it’s stiff  &&  flat  &&  uncertain at first  ,  until loki gets a hold of the melody  &&  while the timing of some elements is wrong  ,  he also settles into singing  far  more comfortably than he’s ever going to admit  before  those few drinks scott mentioned  ,  but in the middle of things he lowers his microphone  &&  announces to the midgardian  :  

                                                〝 these lyrics are  absurd  . 〞

scott stops mid-lyric even as the music keeps playing and the lyrics keep lighting up. his eyes roll up in his head while his microphone hand drops down to his side. “of course these lyrics are absurd, loki. they were written by elton john in the 1970s, one of the most absurd artists in one of the most absurd decades! don’t be such a stick-in-the-mud.”

tamping down the sudden urge to give them a playful shove ( because he’s self-aware enough to know he’ll probably draw back a stump ), scott looks back at the screen and waits a moment for the right time to jump back in.
