We maybe their fans, but we are not entitled to make choices for them. It is their life, regardless whether we believe it or not. If they choose to date, to get married, or to leave, as a fan all I can do is either support them or cry to myself and fellow Sones, but I have no right to tell them what to do, even if I think their taste in men is horrendous or Prince is not the cutest dog in the whole world.
But, no matter what, I will always love Girls’ Generation.
How I love them of course has changed over the years, but I will always support them.
It saddens me to know that Girls’ Generation is no longer OT9, because they are group that prided themselves on being 9 girls as one. 9 girls against the world. And I love that bond, I have always dreamed of a bond like theirs.
And I will say that what happened hurts. Time will act as a band-aid, but I will always miss the days of OT9. However, I cannot live in the days of the past, I have grown up with these girls and I do not plan to stop. I went from high school student, to almost college graduate as a Sone through out.
They helped me get through the bad days, the hard days, the frustrating days, and the good days. They just helped me get through the day.
But, the honest truth is I love Tiffany way above the rest of the members, but if Tiffany did what Jessica did, I would be completely devastated. However, if I were choose who to support above all else, I would always choose Girls’ Generation. Because the fact is, the group got me through days, even if many days it was Tiffany’s smile, but without Girls’ Generation, would I even know that it existed?
Every member has made sacrifices and acted in selflessness for this group.
Now, for me to believe that the other 8 girls wanted to kick out a member for no reason, is unfathomable. These girls have been through hell and back together. They went from years of training, to being the most hated girl group, to being on top of Asia, together. Thus, I cannot ever believe that all other members would want to kick one out, unless they were really impeding or hurting the group. To me, wanting to leave makes a lot more sense than being kicked out, (especially since even before this whole fiasco she started calling her fans maomaos not sones). However, if I was a member, I would never want to be known as the first member to leave the group, because then all the blame of breaking OT9, is strictly on you. Being kicked out on the other hand, puts blame on both sides and allows fans to justify picking sides.
And that is what hurts. People have a need to pick sides.
But the truth is, for being kicked out, she is pretty darn happy. She claims she is happy, and whining about wanting her back, hurts her and Girls’ Generation. Leaving messages about wanting OT9 does not fix anything.
As fan, I will always have a place in my heart for all 9. But also as a fan, I have been hurt.
Now I will choose to support Girls’ Generation as OT8, because that is what they have grown to be. I will always miss and love Jessica, even if it hurts on most days.
They have given me enough great memories to last a lifetime.
