@flevvrtyâ / Elodie
Heâd just gotten out of the shower and stepped from the bathroom, clad in a towel when the door opened. As far as Marcus knew, he had the room all afternoon to himself. His roommate - who they said was his âsoul mateâ or something like that, was out and about in the world. Probably doing her own thing, so he figured it was a good time to just pack and try and figure out again why heâd come here? Finding âloveâ was not a vampiresâ thing. Humans die, immortals get tired of just fucking or whatever and wandered off to do other things in the world. Heâd been content to be a watcher of humanity for the longest time. Something about the letter, though, peaked his curiosity and brought him to this island. After a quick unpacking (and noting there was only one bed), he hopped in the shower. Vampires might not sweat or whatever, but they still liked to not smell like, you know, death.Â
His dark eyebrows went up when a petite girl walked into the room. He stood there at almost a foot and a half taller than her, muscled and huge and gave her a look. âUm⌠hiâŚâ he said, a warming in his chest betraying simple surprise of her being here. âIâm⌠Marcus, and you are?âÂ
ELODIEâS LACK OF social graces had been hard-won through inexperience. sheâd tried to circumnavigate it recently through avoidance, but that wasnât quite the answer, either. elodie, instead, had attempted today to reach out and socialize. sheâd been somewhat successful, finding a few who would humor her with interaction, but the girl had exhausted herself. what elodie had not anticipated was that, upon her return to her room, she would be confronted with the view of a massive man, all muscle and dripping, and... her innocent eyes went wide.
when elodie was finally able to unhinge her jaw again, she stumbled through, âh-hi...â as though that was any kind of answer. her eyes darted to his muscular chest, his carved abdomen, but she forced herself to look away, back to his eyes, needing to be tame somehow. âmarcus? iâm... marcus.â she quickly snapped herself out of it, head shaking, eyes closing briefly, her face scrunching. âelodie! iâm elodie, and youâre marcus. youâre... wet, and iâm...â did she shake his hand? did she hug him? her eyes opened again, awkwardness dying on her tongue with, â...embarrassed. iâm embarrassed. iâm sorry, iâm... making a fool of myself.â

âCrime Scene Investigation: AmorâŚâ illustrated Shane as he walked with the girl, seeing her lighten up a little bit from her first tentative words spoken to him. âTheyâve got some black lights, some test tubes and forceps. Probably sucking up sand like in a vacuum cleaner and running it through a filtering system. If it catches the dust at 15 microns, thatâs old Edgar!â he chuckled. âWe could make a show out of this. People would watch it.âÂ
HIS WIT WAS SHARP, much sharper than hers, and elodieâs laughter rang out like a melody now. âi donât know how you think of these things so fast. i wonder if that kind of filtration system exists. probably!â he must have been some preternatural being who had lived a thousand lifetimes. how else could she explain his charm and his astuteness? âiâll have to just... watch from my couch with the other peons, iâm afraid. iâm not exactly... as well-versed as you are!â
cfdcminanceâ:
The succubus put his hands behind his back and walked along beside the petite blonde beauty. âHmm⌠exploring is good. This island does have a lot to offer, depending on what youâre looking for,â Shane commented with a nod. âBut you do bring up a good question. Imagine sending the remains home to mum and dad? Theyâre likeâŚÂ âwhatâs this, sand from the beach? This isnât our son!â. Meanwhile some unlucky bloke is laying on top of old Edgarâs remains getting some sunâŚâ
HE WAS FUNNY. elodie liked that. she also liked the fact that the humor stilled her nerves, as theyâd been rearing their ugly head since sheâd gotten her letter. there was an added pep in her step now as she allowed herself a small giggle. âwhat a job that would be, huh? i wonder how it would even be done. trying to discern whatâs what? or whoâs who?â

gabriella chuckled softly when the other girl complimented what she did. âwell thank you, my family always tells me not to do something nuclear like that, but he had chances to quiet down or shut up and he didnât.â the hybrid replied with a smile. âoh, no, donât be jealous of anyone who is suppose to be my soulmate, they will have to deal with my short temper and my commitment issues.â she laughed.
âTEACH ME YOUR WAYS,â brooklyn pleaded, smile still bright. âi wish i had the guts to do something like that. i guess iâve got to learn, to survive in this world, huh?â she paused, fingers plucking up the string of her tea bag, swishing it a bit into the already deep hue. âshort tempers arenât a bad thing, necessarily. and, i would argue, commitment issues arenât, either, as long as youâre willing to be honest.â

A THIN BLACK DRESS STOPS ABOVE HER KNEE, golden frame enjoying the sun.  the heat on her skin was comforting.  at her words dark brows knit in her own thought before taking a seat at her side.  sheâs quiet for a few passing moments âŚâŚ..
PUSHING HER SUNGLASSES INTO HER HAIR,  purple tinged hues glance over to the other before looking back forward and to the water.   â youâre going to need something stronger than that if its peace youâre searching for. â  she replies monotonously.   â the cosmos are always shifting. as do our moods. i however, choose my own mood. â  in a attempt to soften the blow, alexandra clears her throat.   â iâm fine. just trying to enjoy theâŚ.. views. am i intruding? â  *
âIâM NOT SEARCHING for anything in particular,â alyce tries, smile tempered. âi just want to help.â it is a senseless feat here, surrounded by the supernatural. alyce needs to remind herself that her powers were far less impressive than many others. it isnât that she felt unneeded, but rather... unnecessary. a witch among veritable gods. âthe universe is only a factor.â alyceâs voice lacks confidence now. backpedaling. âbut itâs important to be aware, i think. the more awareness we have of what can impede our journeys, the more we can take a stand and try to navigate around it. am i making sense?â she ignored the question, consumed with justifying her own intrusion.
prestonharperâ:
Preston chuckled at the other manâs recommendation. Preston had shattered his share of cell phone screens, but usually because he dropped it or some other clumsy reason and not because of rage.  âYouâve got a point about that. I think sometimes Iâd rather not know what goes on out there at all, you know? Especially recently.â
âANOTHER EXCELLENT IDEA.â samsonâs smile was genuine as he chuckled, eyes flickering briefly over the front page. that was another adage, wasnât it? ignorance and bliss. samson had lived most of the years earthside being far too aware of the things that were going on in the world. perhaps now was his chance to ignore everything for a time. reset. enjoy the silence. ânow, hereâs a terrifying thought. having a soulmate who doesnât read.â
clawsandleavesâ:
Rowan had been excited upon receiving the letter claiming he had a soulmate. He hadnât wasted any time making arrangements to come to the island. Though he was incredibly nervous and infinitely shy he had been convinced that anyone who could be his soulmate would like those things about him. He had arrived a few days earlier and had admittedly spent most of that time in his room waiting to see if his person would even show up. The waiting was killing him though and he finally decided it was time to go out and meet some people and stop being such a hermit. He had spent so much time convincing himself to leave the room that he didnât pay any attention as he rushed out of it nearly making the person walking by fall over. âIâm so sorry I wasnât watching where I was going. Are you okay?â
THANKFULLY GOOD NATURED, despite the usual stereotypes of cambions, samson caught himself before he tumbled after the sudden near-collision. âbarely unpacked and iâm already almost bowled over.â samsonâs expression turned to near concern, however, as he glanced over the other, trying to take stock. âwhat about you? are you okay? you didnât get hurt, did you? hopefully not your pride, either. it could have happened to anyone.â samson took a step away, allowing for the space for the other to pass. âi was going back to my room, but iâm more than happy to make sure you get where youâre going without incident.â

âi mean, i always feel a bit off, i donât think it has anything to do with the cosmos.â the hybrid said honestly. with isabella she always felt off because of what she was, half angel half demon; she was always in conflict with herself. her angel side always wanted to do good while her demon side wanted to cause chaos and destruction. âi do wish it did have something with the cosmos so it could pass.â
âTHERE HAS TO BE A REASON for that,â alyce commented, gaze easing, slightly more confidently towards the other. now that they were engaged in conversation, alyce had her in and didnât feel quite so remorseful about interjecting. âfor the feeling off bit. and it doesnât have everything to do with the cosmos, iâm sure, thatâs... simplistic, but. the universe is always talking to us. and thatâs the thing, i...â she paused, letting out a small breath through her nose, stopping herself before she got ahead of herself. âiâd love to do a reading with you. please. iâm a witch. iâd love to give you at least some peace, or guidance.â
cfdcminanceâ:
âSo just who do you think came up with the genius idea of inviting vampires to a sun-shining island?â asked Shane, walking along the sidewalk, drink in hand as usual. âPersonally I think the owners here will be cleaning up little piles of dust all over the place before long. Whatâs your impression so far?âÂ
AMUSEMENT ALLOWED THE CORNERS of elodieâs lips to curl up, falling into step beside the other. sheâd arrived only a day ago, though she hadnât quite explored to her liking; sheâd been somewhat timid, holed up in her room, which was decidedly far too empty for her taste. âi couldnât say,â she admitted, though at least elodie was smiling for the first time that day. âi think i need to explore. iâm wondering however...â she tried to add an air of amusement. â...how anyone can tell the difference between vampire dust and sand.âÂ

â MAYBE THIS WAS A bad idea? maybe i should go home? â her head swiveled, looking around the lobby of the building she was standing in. eleanorâs options now were to walk out the door or continue through up the stairs or elevator to her room. â is there even a way off the island? are we stranded here until someone decides to let us off? â this was uncharacteristic of her. she should not have left her comfy life in los angeles; this was already a big mistake.
âIâM NOT ENTIRELY SURE thatâs how this works.â samson shook his head slightly, his own suitcase halting beside of him. he took in the view of the lobby himself, the magnificence, the intrigue already building. part of him wanted to return to chicago, go back to his practice. he was needed, and he knew it. but then there was her. the ghost who wouldnât leave him be. the proverbial one that got away. why would samson give up the chance for his soulmate just for a woman who didnât want him? âi think weâre here. maybe once weâve settled weâll have earned the right to stretch our legs a bit.â

â is it cliche to stop at the bar first on a gorgeous tropical island? â enzo cared little for the answer to that particular question. he was already perched at the barâs counter, fingers clasped around a whiskey neat. a coy smile tipped the corners of his lips and the lich gestured to the stool beside him, inviting. â come and muse about this whole situation with me, hm? i donât bite. first drinkâs on me. â
SOCIAL CUES WERE STILL a nuance that brooklyn hadnât quite mastered yet. so when the other asked about the cliche of getting a drink at the bar first, well... brooklyn frankly didnât know. her smile said as much, eyebrows lifting slightly, but she did slide onto the stool where heâd directed. âyeah, completely.â she tried to sound knowing. âi mean, itâs always the first place to stop, right? exactly. for alcohol.â

âITâS A VERY CONFUSING TIME in the cosmos right now,â alyce started, fingers worrying the beaded bracelet sheâd tugged off to play with. rose quartz. encouraged harmony and love, which... she hoped would be a decent guide for all of this. her toes dug into the sand as she finally looked up at the other in front of her. so maybe she was interloping into their day, but sheâd felt urged to reach out. alyce tugged back on her bracelet, continuing, âso if youâre feeling a little off... i mean, itâs okay. itâll pass.â
pausing briefly to watch the l word: generation q and cry about the fact that there are no recent gif hunts of kate moennig. because i 10/10 would have brought.

gabriella knew that she was probably the only person who was outside on a laptop, but her classes just started up again and she wanted to stay on top of her studies. she sat facing the ocean with a cup of coffee next to her. there was a man talking very loudly on his phone, pretty much yelling at the other person. âsilencio.â she said and the man couldnât speak anymore and she chuckled at he stormed away. âi feel bad for whoever his soulmate.â
âUMMM... THAT WAS AMAZING,â brooklyn commented, offhanded, as she saw the way the other girl took control of the situation, finishing the man off with a veritable death blow. she had a cup of tea in front of her, steeping far too long, and the taste was bitter now, but that was how she liked it. and now her eyes were wide and she was impressed, and amused, and she just wanted to know more. âyeah, super bad. but like... really jealous of yours. because youâve got it together, you know?â
prestonharperâ:
Living among mostly humans for so long caused Preston to try to blend in. Even on an island where he knew most people were supernatural beings of some sort, he found himself sitting in a coffee shop with a plain cup of coffee that he had no real intention on touching. A newspaper had been placed on the table heâd chosen, and Preston was half-heartedly reading it when he saw someone sit down at the table adjacent to his.  âSeems a little silly to put these out, doesnât it?â he asked, motioning to the paper.
THERE WAS A SAYING SOMEWHERE about old habits and how they died. samson knew it well, and knew that there was something to be said for the simple pleasures of cracking open the paper, reading pages rather than the bright light of a screen. of course... samson loved that, too. modern luxuries were still a relatively new novelty, and the shininess hadnât quite worn off yet. âitâs less convenient. more limited,â samson agreed, but motioned to the opening page. âbut when you see a headline you hate, you can chuck it. wouldnât recommend doing that with someoneâs phone.â
