NEED FOR SPEED

Good question!

I think that, with Jen, she was an idea in my head I just could not hold in. When tasked with the project of ‘make a Flash OC’, I initially tried to make something completely unlinked to the typical Flash family. Since, honestly, I think the whole premise that nearly every future Flash is a decedent of Wally or Barry to be… lame. So I wanted to think up something with NO relation to them at all. Completely new character from scratch, that I make up entirely myself, out of total thin air (like I did for my Spider OC, for instance, connected to the base character but at arm’s length without being directly involved with them initially).

And then I got shown the marvel character ‘Cloud 9′ and my first thought was; “That would be a GREAT look for a Jay Garrick fankid.” And of course that’d be a complicated task to sort out, but the idea REALLY stuck out to me. So much so that I ended up with a bunch of ideas for an origin, personality traits, potential villains and storylines…that I shelved it. I thought the idea was too damn good to work the way I imagined it within a RP setting. After all, those things like supporting characters and longrunning storylines are a lot harder to do in RP.

So I put the idea to bed and tried to keep thinking up something new. And Jen kept coming back into mind. I really adored the idea, like, a lot. And even if I couldn’t do my perfect take on the idea yet, I could still give it an honest test drive here (again, similarly to my Spider-OC). So I made her, and here we are.

     The fact that the young woman didn’t even TRY to intervene once Donna told her not to surprised the Amazon so much, she nearly missed her chance to use the confusion to her advantage and take her opponents out with one clever swing of her lasso. Thankfully for her, most of these things worked without her thinking too much about it after YEARS of doing this and her business was soon wrapped up ( quite literally ).

      But Donna knew to give credit when credit was due so she was quick to turn her attention back to the woman. “ Well I must say I do love having some help from a speedster. Thank you, honestly. I can’t remember the last time someone actually LISTENED to me to be honest. I appreciate that. ”

          Was she slowing down?? Even more boring. He didn’t need to be babied in speed. He huffed a little as he matched pace again, shooting a look out to the world passing by at hyper-speeds. “I’unno,” He shrugged as best he could, waving one hand in the air to wrap his own rust-colored lightning around his wrists. “Speed Force told me to run, she was real insistent on it. Then I feel someone else usin’ it so I go ‘what the sprock did you need me to go for?’ and she hasn’t told me yet, so I’m guessin’ she’s laughin’ or smirkin’ at me somethin’ fierce.”

    “It was the guild for scientists…? It basically oversaw all scientific research on Krypton. My mother was the Guildmaster at the time I joined, I just kind of… Did whatever. I didn’t get a chance to chose a focus.”

       ❝ Thank you.  ❞  She grinned, opening the cookie to break it in half and pop the half without the fortune into her mouth. With that, she stepped through the door.  ❝  I mean, were you going to try and keep that secret forever? ❞

          “… How do you-?” His fame proceeded him, apparently. Save the world a few times, even people who may not be able to register the switching realities can remember your given alias. Then again, most speedsters usually had to deal with loads of reality-altering-shenanigans, maybe this one wasn’t too different. Regardless, super shway. 

          “Oh, boring.” The smaller runner scoffed, tossing his already windblown hair away from his lens-covered eyes. “Adult stuff. Makes more sense, but still.” 

          ( well, he could have been old enough to be a grandfather, even as father figure ). Dinah knew that from all of her special uncles, not many of them had children, for the same reason she never wanted kid when she was younger.      “ I wasn’t aware he had brother actually, but that’s great ! ”     However, genetics wasn’t something that could work with their powers. Jay & Barry didn’t get their powers from legacy.      “ So that let me thinking, how did you get your own Speed power  Jen ? Seems like it RUNS in the family…”     A wide grin appeared on the older blonde, joke & pun intended here. Yes, she was proud, let her be.

“Goodness, The Flash couldn’t take the time to see one of his old friends himself? Tell you what, girl… how about…” He began raising his bow to his violin as a smile graces his face. “You dance for me?” –and as the bow drops? He begins to play.

          It took all his restrained energy not to smack into the other runner. The first smell of burning ozone had him a little too giddy, his momentary annoyance gone faster than it had come. A beaming smile stretching onto his lightly freckled cheeks, he matched an easy pace with the delivery-speedster, giving a little wave as he continued his erratic run. 

          “Well, hello hello~” The younger hero giggled, adding a little bit of a bounce to his super-sonic footfalls. “Was just out for a stroll when I felt someone else takin’ some of the heat out of my heels… What’cha packin? You deliverin’ pizza or somethin’?” Man, he could really go for a pie. 

     “Huh-” In a blink the other speedster was there, even caught HER off guard a bit despite sensing him coming. Now that she actually got a good LOOK at him- “Impulse?” She said, mostly to herself as the surprise caught up with her. Jen had read -and seen- things about him in the Flash Museum, but hadn’t had the pleasure yet. Barry Allen’s grandson from the future, now THAT was a situation only a Flash could be in.

“Yeah, well… it’s dumb. It’s dumb that he thinks that I won’t be able to grow up and do what he can do. I just…” She huffs again before she pulls her knees up to her chest. “You’re really lucky, you know… You get to be like Jay. …I just have my dad getting angry about everything I try to do. He flipped his lid when he found out I asked Uncle Kent to teach me magic. …even though he said he wouldn’t…” She’d grown up around the JSA. They were the family that she looked up to– but she didn’t have powers like some of them. Didn’t have magic. She just had the will and desire to learn– the dream to be just like them.

    “I was a member of the Guild - I mean, I was always better at art but my mother -”
