“Told you to be careful what you wished for,” she shrugged playfully, “but you can definitely do that. I don’t want to completely make you want to run away”

“I think the ends will justify the means,” he told her in response, giving a slight shrug of his own. “I don’t mind too much. But you should be warned that Cole might shave my head in my sleep or something, so if you can live with me hairless, it should be fine.”

“Okay, um,” she started with a small laugh to herself she knew this was relatively silly and really probably not what he’d been expecting but, “Watch the next Hufflepuff Gryffindor game with me and cheer Hufflepuff,” she told.

Ezra shook his head at the girl’s mischievous request. “And have my house kick my ass?” he questioned with raised eyebrows. “Only if you let me hide behind your scarf,” he compromised, with a slight shrug. 

“Alright well I have a challenge for you to see if you’re really all in,” she proposed. 

“Hit me with it.”

“You sound like you’ve never heard the expression be careful what you wish for,” she teased.

“Maybe I haven’t,” he shrugged, not sure exactly what her point was but fairly sure he couldn’t regret what he was wishing for now.

Toby scrunched up his face at Ezra, clearly not accepting the look the other boy was giving him. “I will! Let me at him!” He laughed.

Ezra grabbed his friend by her shoulders, chuckling as well. “Absolutely not.”

“You’re not wrong but then I’d have to do something for you,” she said not that she’d really mind that she thought to herself. 

“I’d be happy just to be your love slave,” he half joked, though he wasn’t entirely kidding.

“I normally like to think of myself as pretty self-sufficient,” she told now not knowing where she was going with this. She had at some point but now she felt a bit too embarrassed to say anything that might have come to mind. 

“I fully believe that you are a completely independent woman who does not need me,” he told her honestly. “That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be nice to keep around for things.”

“Well, what kind of help do you normally offer?”

“All kinds. Whatever you need.”

“Is that what you’re doing?” she asked. 

“Of course. I’m a very helpful person.”

She full out laughed at his response. “A very good try but I’ll have to deny that request,” she answered.

The boy smiled at the girl’s laugh but didn’t give into it too much. “Hey, I’m just trying to help,” he shrugged. 

“Oh? And you think I couldn’t keep their interest through some very descriptive letters?” 

Ezra’s eyebrows rose up at the girl’s question. “I don’t know. You could give me some examples of what these letters might contain and I could tell you then,” he offered.
