Incredible of a feat as it is, Eddie keeps an eye on her ascent, one hand not-quite-readily hovering, but partially tensed up that arm for the sake of moving fast should she fall. But she makes it safely. Actually, she makes it without a stumble of any kind—she's gotten good at this—and finds her home on his chest as if she's always belonged there.

A quiet moment passes. He turns the TV's volume down to a murmur, letting the rolling hum of city life beyond their open window consume most of the room.

But the important thing is that a person's reaction to them lets me know what kind of person they are!

And let's just say that you pass my little test~

“Hm. You don't say . . . ”

I think you’re definitely the cutest one here~

“—?”

“ . . . ”

He clears his throat. Not because he needs to. It just seems like a great way to stall for a second or two.

What he wants to say is that's quite an assumption. —if it weren't actually true.

“Thanks, but it's no big deal. I—”

It hits him.

*places a flower crown on Eddie's head. The flowers are all coordinated in the order of the rainbow*

. . . there's really no escaping it.

But Eddie also doesn't resist. Just waits while the crown is situated on his head.

“Pft.”

Say less for a magnanimous mage is already on the case! With just a snap of their fingers, his entire attire has changed into a rainbow of colours ( pun very much intended! ). To show some mercy, Star has chosen a darker shade instead of the bright colours one would expect usually.

He doesn't feel anything—thank God—but it's hard to ignore the assault of colors when he looks down. (And what the hell was with this stranger's propensity for changing the color of things to begin with?)

Eddie blinks. His shoulders deflate some.

“Oh— Yeah, that is this month, isn't it?” He hadn't even realized it was June, frankly.

. . . so i wanted to wait to reply to this until i had the chance to fully explore all of the available options and endings, but i haven't done that yet so forgive me for slacking off

gonna be a bit vague here as to not spoil anything for folks who have yet to play the chapter and want to, but i cannot get over how genuinely great of a guy eds is. i remember rix was nervous about him being the protagonist but jeezum crow he's the perfect protag and is so immediately lovable

adore that he's always looking out for the others, putting the other contestants before himself in most cases (sacrificing himself ??? screaming crying throwing up). love that he's such an awkward dork, truly

i love how easy it would be to take a character like eddie and lean really far into the trope of making him cold and brutal but the game does not do that bc that's not who he is. in fact, all that "brutal" stuff is what he hates

his dynamic with literally every character is so compelling. and that's what you want from a protagonist: you don't want any interaction with the rest of the cast to be a snooze fest, and it never is
