“What…,” Rumi timidly lifts her head up, she finally sees the real Zoey and Mira, not the eeriely similar versions of them. Zoey is sitting on the bed beside her and Mira is standing on the side of the bed. She sees the cozy sweatshirts and the fear struck faces. Even with the faint moonlight streaming in, Rumi sees Zoey’s panic filled eyes. When Rumi looks over to Mira’s face, she could see tears silently streaming down her face. “No, nothing is alright Zoey. What do you mean is everything alright? You were demons and you grabbed me and you called me a traitor and pathetic and-“

Zoey placed a gentle hand on Rumi’s thigh. Rumi tensed up for a second before melting into Zoey’s touch. “Darling it was only a hallucination. I promise you that Mira and I would never call you pathetic or a traitor or anything like that. You’re our Rumi and nothing can ever change that.”

Rumi can feel the tears well up in her eyes, “You promise?”

“Pinky promise.” Mira said while she wipes her tears with the sleeve of her sweatshirt. All three girls interlock pinkies. A silly ritual they started when they all first met, but has grown to be a way to wordlessly reassure each other. “Mira, get over here!” Rumi exclaims as she grabs Mira’s waist and heaves her in between Zoey and Rumi.

The girls layed there for a few minutes in a comfortable silence. Mira brushed back the sweat plastered hair off of Rumi’s forehead. Zoey traced Rumi’s patterns up and down her arm. Rumi buried her head into Mira’s neck, breathing in her perfume. When Rumi’s breathing slowed to a soft snore, Mira lifted her head.

“Hey Zo?”

“Yeah, Mira?”

“I definitely spilt soup all over carpet when Rumi grabbed me. We’re gonna have to clean that up at some point.”
